At first i put leds behind the fan, switched it on and thought mmm crap, then thought Wouldnt it be cool if they spun round After a good rummage for some bits, behold a spinny LED fan mod type thingy
infact i think im gonna make that my next mod!! i got plenty of those motors (loads of spare scalextric cars) and plenty of washers!
Quality Respect. Nuff said. You've made a fellow Juno case owner really sad that I haven't got one. This would look amazing in a fan duct so that you can see it from the front. Now theres an idea? "GiBTEK boy's give fellow modder a huge pat on the back for a job welldone"
This is a fantastic looking mod, however... The downside is that it is only suitable for exhaust fans. Most fans (and certainly all of the ones I currently own) are designed in the same way as those on the page detailing the mod. If you did that mod to fan, and wanted to have it as an intake, the pickup arms and wiring would be on display rather than hidden round the back. Not only would be it look a bit untidy, you'd probably have difficulty in mounting the fan. That's a bit of a shame as it means most of your LEDs will be tucked at the back of the case (unless you have a top exhaust fan). I've spent some time trying to think of a way to make this work for an intake fan, but short of getting a fan designed the other way around, I haven't come up with anything. If anyone else has some ideas, please post them here. Maybe between us we can come up with something.
you can reverse the polarity of the wires for the fan and it should run backwards.. i have had no problems with this (i've done it to about 10 fans)... you'd have to change the polarity of the LED's too if you have already modded the fan.
I thought about that, but are the fan blades not shaped according to the direction they are meant to travel in? If the fan was running the other way, would it be as efficient? I have no idea about this kind of thing.
Your right there, the blades are a curved aerofoil shape. So I would have thought running them backwards would increase noise and decrease air flow.
Damn cool mod... I wouldn't do this on a 80mm Delta fan though. Looks like somebody made the sigs so that they don't have links in them... interesting. oh well Darkhorse, your days of shameless pluggin are over!
