Just read some replies Kyle makes in that thread - the guy is not fair, unbiased or rational in his response to Crytek - he even admits it somewhere announcing that he's carries grudges, and he's not a journalist or a games reviewer - yet you think he magically treats forum members better? Well as long as you keep parroting the [H] line, and keep quiet if you disagree I'm sure you'll be fine :)

^^ parroting the [H] line? Nice.

I read the comment thread in full over at [H]. I also contributed. Bleating whinging and moaning about the site or articles get you noticed in the bad way. Banging on and on and on and on gets you noticed in the bad way. 20 posts in the same thread gets you noticed in the bad way.

Kyle didn't like something? fine. Accept it.

Say you liked what he didn't like? fine. "Im glad you got your money's worth" is what he would and did say, many times.

Tell him and the staff they are full of ****? There is your ban.

    It's a simple system.

"He carries grudges" Boo flaming hoo. Who doesn't on these boards? To paraphrase "Crytek promised us caviar and gave us beans in a caviar tin". Thankyou Gunsmith.

"he's not a journalist or a games reviewer - yet you think he magically treats forum members better?" What does that mean exactly? What do journalists and games reviewers do to treat forum members better?

Oh, and please, citing sources, show me where he was not fair to someone on that comment thread would you please? Remembering that the rules are clear and only one warning will be given.

"according to nVidia" this article was sponsored and brought to you by nVidia!

Was AMD asked what they thought, you know, in the interests of balance?

Wow! Only just noticed that! Can't believe the major review sites missed that one! FUGLY energy bar bottom right! Until then I thought the game was very good. Now I'm thinking I will uninstall it and sell it on ebay. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. What the **** were crytek thinking!

Not on my PC it's not. I conducted a little experiment recently, played a PC game the same way most muppets do (turned off body vibration). The game felt flat and lifeless and I lost that feeling of being immersed. I think the crap setups are a big part of the problem.

The game is a lot of fun when you feel the kick of bullets and the shockwave of an explosion.

I suggest you uninstall Duke Nukem Forever, buy Crysis 2 and buy or build yourself a body vibration system.

BF2 eh? I bought it, tried to like it for several years and then just accepted my hatred of it. Flying a fast jet over a postage stamp sized map. One of my friends still plays it. He's ranked pretty high for his pilot skills (RS White).

The way you are fiercely flying to the defence of Crysis 2 and Crytek you are one of three things:
    1. An employee of Crytek,
    2. A paid Crytek/EA stuffed shirt spamming any forum negative comment,
    3. A sad individual with a little boy crush for a game studio.

Do you really think that arguing about a matter of taste is in any way useful? You can't link your argument to a "fact" or a benchmark that can objectively rate how good a game is. You liked it. Others didn't. You have argued that it was good, but it hasn't swayed others. They argued it was crap, but it didn't sway you. Is there any further purpose by repeating the same thing again? Who cares?

I haven't played Crysis 2. I have no intention of playing it until it is $5 on Steam (therefore never) or I can gather enough interest to buy it for a similar amount on eBay (not likely though). I did play FC, Crysis and Crysis: Warhead, the best being Crysis. Though "best" is all relative, because other than looks it was quite ordinary.

I expect I'd be bored stupid by Crysis 2. Others who have played it have that opinion.

At the moment I'm more concerned at the fact that the Green Man Gaming site appears to be down so I can't get my free copy of Arma II.

No foolin? I've seen him around a good few times. He's a very good pilot. I mainly play air-defence on jet maps (hence I've seen him), and Spec-ops kit on City maps. I must be stuck in my ways, but no other with vehicles online FPS has ever seemed quite as good. I'm ranked 81st for spec-ops and 21st for kills with the carbine (spec-ops main gun). Asian_Poo_Grannies (yeah seemed funny but now it seems like a burden.)

Um yes..... It is blatantly obvious how childish it is.

For a review site like [H] to have their owner and editor acting so unprofessional is a joke (and makes them look like a joke in the process).

You can express your opinion and keep your integrity in an adult and professional manner so why the need to stoop to such a low level? Other sites manage it so why can't [H]?

Surprised this wasn't mentioned in the article. There is also a nice screen space reflection included in the DX11 patch as well as the Bokeh effects are much improved. You can really see the new local reflections on glossy stuff like tile floors and puddles and what not.

Here's a good article from one of the developers on the enhancements made: http://www.mycrysis.com/sites/default/files/support/download/c2_dx11_ultra_upgrade.pdf

Then go to those sites and enjoy the professional attitude. Just like a bricks and mortar business, if their attitude and conduct offends you you are entitled to complain and then never use them again. You are also entitled to pass on your opinion of this poor attitude to others.
But you are not entitled to assume that such an attitude is unwelcome to others, nor are you entitled to demand a change in their attitude given you don't pay [H] for their articles.

Personally I like [H], though I am not a member of their forum and I'm only an occasional visitor. I like the articles, I like their style of writing and I like their methods of testing. Would I like all sites to be like [H]? No I wouldn't, but I'm glad they are there with an alternative view-point if not an alternative view. I really have no opinion of Kyle, I neither like nor dislike him.

Best thing about [H] is there is no pretence. It started off as an enthusiast site and it still is an enthusiast site, when all their contemporaries have sold out (in more ways than one!) to media conglomerates. They are never coy about saying what they think of the products that pass through their hands, which is not something I can always say for BT and most other review sites. It is easy to be critical if you have nothing to lose, but far more difficult if the object of your criticism is someone (individual or company) you are dependent on. They don't couch their words to lessen their criticism nor do they avoid giving it because it might upset an advertiser or powerful industry figure. They don't sell their opinion for money nor favour.

I only visit [H] once a week on average (I visit BT more often, sometimes daily), to catch up on published articles and reviews. But I would be very upset if they were no longer themselves.

It's option 3 kind of. I got sick of all the criticism of the original crysis because kiddies couldn't run it maxed out on their low end systems.

I played through and completed Crysis 1. Crysis 2 was more of the same so I got bored a short distance in to it.

Crysis 3 I was annoyed it was such an blatant console port and they couldn't even make it work in SLI. I emailed them to tell them how crap it was when some other companies are putting out DX11 games that work fine from day 1 (Dirt 3?). A day later they released the DX11 update.

When you say you expect you'd be bored stiff playing the game because others were... You've conducted a survey and established that the vast majority were bored playing it? Or you're kind of sheep like and have to fall in line with the opinions of others? Which is it?

Have you played Metro 2033? Now that's a boring game. I also have a copy of Arma II (I bought it on Steam for £5). Haven't got into it yet properly but what I've seen looks good.

Asian poo grannies? What porn has the clan been watching (link me to it please:).

RS White should be even better soon. He bought a Saitek X52 Pro recently so he should have better control in flight. It's his first HOTAS control system.

    +1 Exactly.

They said themselves to not express thier opinion on Crysis 2 would have payed off handsomely with advertising $ from Nvidia. They chose to say what they thought, and to keep sticking to that throughout. They are deadly serious when they state things and they tell it exactly how they find it. There's no dancing around issues, skimming over problems, it's all honest and upfront. Plus their testing methods are imho the best around, although that is a side point.

I found the whole article and comment thread (in the sense of my geekery past times) quite life-affirming (again my geek-life). Brutal honesty from the guys in charge, not fluffed-up in any regard is most refreshing and it was also in a sense heartening to see such genuine emotion conveyed. He literally stood up and said "This is BOLL#CKS, shame on YOU Crytek" and I genuinely appreciated that as a PC geek to see a review site really stick it to the man. EVERY other hardware site has just said "yeah it's an average shooter" whereas a huge chunk of the PC gaming crowd have been seething in the multitude of forums out there.

The ultimate point is this is the first time I have seen a site owner, at the mercy of advertising and sponsorship revenue, come out and sympathise with his readers and good on him. It cost him and his business money to say what he thinks, so doubley good on him.

It is mentioned in the article. It's linked to directly. It's quoted from (and referenced) and was used as an accompaniment to the writing process.
