Storage Dedicated Drives, or raid?

    Which would be faster for access speed/gaming, RAID5 or a dedicated drive for the OS and one for the game being run? I tried searching and cant find the information.

    And yes, I have the drives for RAID5.

    RAID5 with a decent controller (including latest generation chipset controllers). When gaming your OS shouldn't be doing many reads/writes so that extra HDD bandwidth may as well go to the game (which it would in RAID but wouldn't with dedicated drives). The redundancy is nice too.

    Hardware RAID card if you want the speed boost, otherwise motherboard-based RAID is only good for basic stuff, even if it supports RAID5, I wouldn't use it for it :thumb:
