Here's some pictures from tiny progress..

Got the "arms" for the mb-cover thingy sanded, those we're filled with scratches.
Wetsanding and polishing comes after i get all parts done for that hingy-thingy..



Did some cuts for the Cpu-block cover..



^ Needs to get my wc-stuff and some components before i actually can continue with that..


Some fitting, and maybe this picture gives some idea from things to come.. (if my amazing sketch didn't)

Super bright white led inside the optical:



Painted the Recon-Player:


Welded a piece of steel in the edge of faceplate to cover lcd's backlight:







Still missing faceplate for the optical:



Because i will change the drive as soon i get a new one..

Update 11.1

Time for update..


I started to build a motherboard tray.
It can be lifted up, so i had to make it sturdy enough.

Also hinges will be partly sunked inside the tray.. So it has to be a little different.

Here's the start..

Plate with some markings. I will use corner grinder and 1mm thick cutting disks for cutting.



Some cuts..



And more.. Corners i smoothened with rotary file..
Used this time that pneumatic "big boy" tool instead of dremel.



Cuts and some bendings done..



Lets continue with another part.

Again some markings.



Holes made with these.. Of course i did a starting holes with drill.



Part done and bended..



And finally welded to the mb-tray frame.

This part will be the pump holder.. Pump will be placed under the motherboard.



Again we continue with another part..

Markings and cutting with the same methods than earlier..









And after bending..



Here's some pictures from parts nearly ready to be polished.

Some holes needs to be done first.. etc..







Fits nicely.



Between these sheets will come red acrylic sheet.

These plates will be wetsanded and polished to mirror like.







Next i will continue with this..
Backplate of the motherboard needs holes to the connectors etc.

Update..

Time to make io-panel for the mb-tray.

Markings..



Drilled a starting holes with drill, and continued with rotary file and then filed the rest off with the set of basic files.



Noticed that filing 2mm thick acid proof steel aint so funny..



But.. It can be polished really nicely.. So its fair enough.



Didn't like the look of the sound connector area, so i did some changes..



Got io-shield nearly finished.. Im still waiting for my gfx to arrive..



And it actually fits nicely. And now i even like that sound connector area too.



Gfx-card holes will be shaped partly in that same io-shield, and partly for the frame itself..

Update


I wanted give a better look for the psu.

So i started with ripping it.



Then it was time to do new top for it.
Did some markings and drilled some holes.



Then it was time to do some Dremel cuts..



Here's the cutted part..



After filing and sanding it was time to do some fitting with the fan.
Fan is modified Bitfenix spectre, i cut it just like i did with the front intake fan.



It fitted nicely, so i could bend the plate.



Then it was time to continue with the frame.
I copied the shapes from the top to the frame part.



And did some bends for it.



Then i welded these two parts together..



Here's some pictures how it looks today...



Tomorrow it should look a little different.

Hand filing stainless steel means you earned your rep, and maybe a sore neck.
Keep doing your magic.

 

I guess it is acid resisting steel.


At here your work may look even better than in Muro!

[Update]

Started with the cuts to the bottom of the new psu-cover.



I wanted to "steal" some space under the psu.



Then i did a part for the opening..



And another part for the other side of it..



Then i welded them together..



And again to the bottom.. Now i have more room for the pcb of the psu.

But still the new cover looks smaller than original..



Continued with the holes for the power connector/switch.. Filed again..



And drilled some holes..



Then it was time to weld all seams.. With tig, i love my tig welding machine.



And after loads of sanding it looks like this..

I wanted to give some similar look for the psu-cover as the case. Allthought there will be loads of holes etc..

Should look much nicer after wetsanding and polishing..



Test fitting to the case..
Now you might see the reason why i took some room from the bottom, (or not, picture ain't so good as i thought.)
Psu looks smaller than it actually is.

Finished the new psu-cover.

Here's some pictures for the manufacturing..

And then the tricky part..









And done. Not bad?



Copied the shape of the "keyhole" to the bacplate of psu..



And cut the backplate in right shape..



Welded parts together..



And did loads of wetsanding with soapy water.



Casing of the psu done.

Next the innards inside the casing and some sleeving.
