Colour me completely unsuprised. Not only did the original article not have any evidence to back up their claims, this would be TRIVIAL for every other anti-virus vendor to identify: look up if they had been affect by a hash-collision attack against a critical file (you'd know, because the results are headline-making), then look up the source of the malware that generated that signature. If it came from Kaspersky, you have a scapegoat to declare yourself not-at-fault for the has collision and save face. That no-one has done so is a big red flag the claims were unsubstantiated.

This is a drop in the ocean when compared to the controversies surrounding McAfee. And while it is a good read on Bit-Tech, does it surprise us at all?

    Incoming sweeping statement:

The IT industry was created by extremely intelligent sociopaths.

I touched upon that back when he was pushing the D-Central box, in paragraphs three through four. Regardless of what John McAfee does these days, however, it's not really on-topic for 'ere: he's not part of McAfee the company any more. It was bought out by Intel in 2010 and is now formally known as Intel Security.

Eugene Kaspersky, on the other hand, is still very much in charge of Kaspersky the company. If John McAfee was still the head of McAfee the company, you can bet his recent exploits would have been up on 'ere.
