hi I recently bought an EVGA 750 watt BQ psu only to discover that under load it would scream, vibrate and generally make a lot of noise so I RMA'd it. It was replaced pretty quickly but have realised that the model is a generally loud one. My question is whether this is normal or should I have a case for a refund? - When under load the psu is loudest part of system (louder even than my 2080ti) - After just half hour of gaming the psu took 40 minutes to then return to normal fan speed when exited to desktop despite the cpu and gpu (2080) returning to normal temps under 10 minutes. - Volume of psu is actually putting me off gaming due to noise. My previous psu was a Corsair and do not remember it making any noise close to these levels, Advice would be appreciate and understand than I cannot get a refund from a psu just because I believe it's loud but is this really normal? Thanks in advance.
Facing down but the H500i is about an inch off ground so it can draw adequate air easily. Do you think I have a case for a refund?
To take 40 minutes from exiting a game to desktop though for fan noise to calm down - that's not right surely?
I mean, you can always try, there's nothing stopping you, and if its within 30 days of purchase you're more likely to be successful, but I just don't rate your chances of success that high. I've never heard of anyone getting a refund due to noise so I'd be curious.
Me neither, I think it goes along the lines of "that's why there are different rated psus". FWIW I have an EVGA G3, I never hear it.
I've an EVGA Supernova 750G+, and same: I never hear it, even under load. ...but I'm also drawing about half its rated wattage, so there's that.
I'm running if helps or makes any difference: Asus B360-F Motherboard i7 8700 @4.3 16gb 3200 DDR4 Asus Strix 2080ti 2 x m.2 2 x ssd 1 x 3.5 h/drive It sounds like the noise levels are not normal under load. The psu is very quiet in desktop it's just when it's under load - and as I stress to take 40 minutes after exiting a game to desktop for the fan noise to calm down is surely too long?
Well, less reason for it to be making so much noise me thinks. I just know that it is unbearable to use whilst gaming.
I had a 1000w EVGA and again, quiet as a mouse. And that thing was under serious strain too. Hex core Sandy @ 5.1ghz and triple Titan Black. It may have a messed up temp sensor, if that's how the fan operates.
Thanks. Fingers crossed. I've just put my old Corsair psu back in case and have noticed that my gpu temps have dropped from 42c to 34c in Desktop which I think says something.
