This thread has probably been a good reminder to some of us to crack open our computers and clean them out.

    Look at this one!

My m8 smoked next to his pc for 2 years was complaining it was over heating. I took it apart and the fans had stopped spinning it was so full of gunk, had to completely replace the 4 fans as they were totally fubar.

Wish I had some pics mine is relatively clean in comparison

I would wager he just did all his fans with that, admittedly satisfying, stunt!

I'm truly impressed at the level of filth in those cases. I'm also very grateful I wasn't required to 'fix' any of them. Yuck!

My word, I'd hate to see the keyboards of some of them rigs.

The typical owners of a Dell never think to open and clean them. Disgusting!

I recently had a smokers computer to work on. It was quite filthy, and being a non-smoker I was amazed that the dust was way more brownish and tar-like than anything I have ever seen before.

But get this: I didn't start with cleaning the machine, since I had other problems to work on, but when I did open the case and tipped it over, the dust that got 'airborn' triggered the smoke-alarm,.... :jawdrop:

    Ugh!
It's even worse when you realise that a spider wouldn't build a web if there weren't any food to catch...

Would you really want Joe Public picking up their duster and getting in there? I think not!

Dust triggers smoke detectors quite easily, I've set off my companies fire alarm more then once routing CAT5 cable through some old dusty areas.

When I smoked it could get pretty gross, now not so much.
