Kind of Sub par for a Bit-tech article, this looks like something from myspace. Good pictures of the tourist spots though.

I believe it was this: if you put a (boiled) egg in vinegar or something it swells... I read it somewhere... I'll try to get the details on it ;)

Oh man, that must've been an awesome trip, congratulations guys!

I wonder if I'd try the scorpions ><

I do feel really sad about your mods though, I work at a shipping company, but I haven't really seen anything that beat-up when beeing shipped in wooden crates. (Cardboard is a whole other story ;)

I have to agree that this article seems rather unprofessionally written - a little too informal imho.

I was trying something a little different, hoping to do something outside of the usual "We did this and saw that" which normally accompanies an event like this. I had hoped the informality might be something to help bring it more like someone telling a story of what had happened, rather than doing an autopsy.

Basically, I feel we got there not by just having a nice front page or a few good mods, but by being the best site in the world...the WHOLE community. Therefore, it wasn't so much press coverage to me as relaying something to you guys who help make this site great enough to get picked by a company like Intel. The event was very formal, but to me the trip turned out to be all about the comradery of modders - not about top-down coverage. So I felt this style might be more appropriate.

I'm getting some pretty varied feedback on that, so I'm interested in constructive style critiques such as this. If you've got one, drop it here or toss me a PM as to whether this is something that was more interesting for you to read, or if the lack of formality was too much a compromise. :) Let me know if you liked it or didn't, why, and and how I could have made it better.

I like the vacation photos. Usually tourist pics are of 'the wife in front of (____)'. Give a group of craftsmen who are total strangers cameras and you get awesome results. Lots of detail photos!

That's the way I read it (we went, we showed off what you guys have already seen, we ...) and that worked fine for me. :thumb:

I'm curious: Did the disappointed posters here expect full work logs or great amounts of details about all the mods there?

Nice work guys, I expect the informal writing style might not be to the taste of all but I think it conveys the real mood of the trip. After all this was a showcase of some of the best modding of the world, demonstrated by the modders themselves, not fully fledged journalists. If we reported it too formally the team spirit and group feeling may have been lost.

Next time I'd love to go, should really get those planned mods started... :worried:

How are the mods being transported overseas? Via the airline? Or some 3rd party shipping company like fedex?

edit: oh yea, Really liked the article, looked like it was a lot of fun! I wouldve killed to have been there. Only problem is a little disease I have called celiac disease . Means I can't eat anything with gluten (gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye and other grains) and it just so happens soy sauce has gluten in it, so I would've had a hell of a time finding food to eat.

I'm blaming UPS (Uncaring Package Smashers :p ). They destroyed a bunch of stuff I shipped home & I never did get all the insurance coverage I paid extra for. :grr:

OK, probably wasn't them (this time) but..

Looked like a great trip. Wish I could've made it, but thems the breaks I guess. I'm wondering how WMD would've fared with the shipping - the damage the mods suffered must've been upsetting, I was upset just looking at the pictures. Glad you guys still had a great time :)

I liked the informal writing; a great modding adventure story. The media circus sounded hectic! :eeek:

After seeing those shipping disasters, anyone want to start a mod-shipping company with me? We will fly mods to and from anywhere with a landing strip in a padded case on our laps. :D

    Its an idea anyway

    Nice story and photographs!

Sorry if I missed it but who determined the Modder selection? Not that I would change much... Was it Bit-tech staff or the convention committee? Either way what an incredible honor to be selected!
