Graphics Is this 5870 referance pcb anyone?

Hi everyone, ok so I've just got hold of this xfx 5870 standard clocks and am desperately trying to work out if it has a custom pcb, have tried scouring the internet, looking for reviews or something of the same model, but it seems difficult to find, just wondering if anybody had a idea about it? Or where I might find some information that could help, many thanks in advanced

 

Well, it is not that hard to find out the standard HD5870 PCB... Then you need to compare

And as you can see, it is non-standard PCB. It is enough to look at power conectors.

 

thought it was a bit of a duh question, but needed to find out for certain as I'm ordering a waterblock for it, what do you think faugusztin? Looks standard to me

 

No, unfortunately it isn't. Again, look at power connectors, they are in different direction. Then you have some small changes visible even at back of the board (4 resistors in every line instead of 3) etc etc.

Or write down the identification of your card (something like HD-587X-ZNDA).

 

I have some pics of the standard PCB on my thread (in sig) and with a waterblock, so if you opened it up you'd be able to compare both, as the EK block I use doesn't go near the power connectors. If your lucky everything else is in the same place...

The only way to be sure is by taking the heatsink off...

i usually look for:

"AMD" (or "NVIDIA") printed in the center of the PCIe connector, just above the pins.

a black, solid steel heat spreader that covers the whole backside of the card.

the "bat-mobile" cooler with a radial flow fan on the far end.
