    Hey guys.

I'm new to this forum, but I've been modding equipment for many years now, from Pc's, laptops, game consoles, ect, ect.

I haven't had a chance to design or make anything recently, what with work and normal day life getting in the way, however it's time to start a project.

I have a old 13" gateway laptop that a friend gave to me as the screen was damaged and he didn't need it anymore. I have another screen that would work when installed, but it was bigger than the laptop main body, so i did what any good modder does and made it fit.

I had to crudely bend the screen brackets to fit the 15" screen and re-drill the screw holes to mount it and it worked.

Here are a few photos. Yes I did put black cardboard on the back of the screen :/

So it works, but it doesn't look very good or is it very safe. One wrong placement of your finger near the inverter and you'll be in for a a shock. Due to this, I'm going to build a whole new chassis for this laptop. I taken all the parts out from the motherboard, dvd-drive, keyboard, mouse and rebuilt them outside on a box to make sure they still work. Sure enough, the system boots still.

I'm going to use green acrylic sheets to build the bottom and top of the laptop base, with hex standoffs to mount the laptop mobo and top of the laptop base. Two more sheets will be used to house a screen with new brackets/hinges mounted to the base of the chassis.

Here is a list of parts i'll be using (I'll adding more later on)

    More parts will follow.

Here is a few designs showing the layout of the motherboard and the size of the sheets to build the base unit. I'll have some more detailed plans up later when completed.

Here are the parts I already have for the laptop rebuild. All tested and seem to work very well outside the laptop frame.
