Jesus these boards are gonna be expensive, just by the fact the Gigabyte UD3 has 4 PCI-E x16 slots, I expect £250?

 

This is the high end segment, £250 is average for a motherboard

 

hmm... was a mistake revamping my x58 rig... ah well... i will give it to a cash-strapped friend of mine...

Nonetheless, I will still look forward to building a X79 gaming rig soon. Although my initial plans of building it with AMD HD 7xxx series graphix cards did not pan out though. I will still wait for an Asus ROG Gene board to come out and then further mod my Lian Li A04.

My next upgrade. Hope they move all the ram to one side will make cooling easier

 

Not probably but certainly because of problems with routing.

Guys (from B-T Crew) just to point out. One picture of Asus board is enough. It is exactly the same product just with different stickers. That is one cleaver way to show how many products are on offer. Take 20 exactly the same boards, print 20 different stickers, problem solved!

I really can't wait for LGA2011. 14 SATA ports, too bad that without any dedicated RAID chip on-board but still great addition. Great for non-critical simple arrays lvl 1&10. Also as a observation, it is good to see that not everybody ditching PCI. I do need one slot no matter what.

LGA2011 is Ivy Bridge surely though...? The RAM slots either side is an immediate irritation, if it stays I wont be bothering with LGA 2011 at all

 

it should fit anyway mate as the mounting socketes are the same as lga 1366

Nope, LGA 2011 is 'Sandy Bridge - E'.
Ivy Bridge is the 22nm version of the current Sandy Bridge.

Why, may I ask, do you not approve of the ram slot positioning?

Are those folks at Asus for real? The board looks like something I "conjure up" after particularly nasty weekend featuring way too many tequila shots.

 

Chaps, don't worry too much about the unpleasant colour of many of these boards as they are not the final PCB designs. For example, if you look closely at the Asus and Gigabyte boards they still have debugging ports on them, something that never makes its way onto a final PCB design.

 

You can also see the asrock board says "4 channels DDR3" and the gigabyte one at least (being the easiest to read in the image) has the slots numbered DDR3_1-4. Why would they drop down from triple channel on the 1366 to dual channel again?

As well as the asus board which has 8 slots next to the 2011 socket.

 

Its gona be quad channel ram, 16gig quad channel..... sweet

 

Erm... Asus? WTH is with the puke-coloured motherboards? Gigabyte has it right, you don't.

I really like the looks of the Asus CIX79 Plus LGA2011 Motherboard. On another Forum it had a very bright yellow color that was quite stomach turning, but the gold color is kind of classy.
I see no problem at all with the memory slots. Then again, I watercool. There's no longer any reason at all anybody shouldn't switch to, at the very least, a Corsair type closed loop watercooling solution. Anyone who disagrees is, as their hsf, just blowing a lot of hot air.
Someone I'm not going to quote mentioned the LGA1366 platform as not being a mainstream chipset? He/she/it is obviously seriously retarded. 1366 is only the best Intel produced in its time and is still going strong and is also going to last out the next decade right beside its 1155 sibling.

 

People really dislike reading comments before posting, don't they?

 

I wish they would put the memory above the CPU like on some Lan Party boards, I felt that was the best when it came to air flow for air cooled CPUs and what not.
