Hi guys, My birthday is coming up, and out of the blue, my father has agreed to buy me a new monitor for up to (roughly) £150. This will obviously be a great improvement to the 10 year old Compaq V75. Here's the dilemma - he knows barely anything about the new monitor market, and neither do I. Despite reading through GoodBytes fantastic guide to monitors, I believe the best way to choose a monitor is to simply ask for your experiences. I have heard many a great thing about the LG IPS's, but I am unsure as to the various differences between some of the models, and which one to go for. Of course, if anyone has another monitor which they feel would be equal/better than the LGs, please do tell. I will mainly be using the monitor for gaming, a bit of video viewing, some photo/video editing and a LOT of reading. Sorry if there have been multiple similar threads: I would simply like a bit of clarity on the subject. Many thanks, Blazza
As True_gamer said, the LG IPS231P-BN. I have one, and it's very good. Excellent colours and I've et to see any ghosting or lag.
Great to hear from you guys. Just wondering, is there any difference between the IPS231P-BN and the IPS236V-PN, which may cause me to sway in one of either directions? After a bit more research, I guess these probably are my final two possibilities.
As you saw, they are several LG 23inch IPS panel. They are all the same panel, it's really just the input and looks of that changes. I would go with the IPS231P-BN. Because it's non-glossy, and adjustable stand. You'll honestly appreciate that GREATLY.
OK. I guess with your input, I've chosen the monitor. Thanks guys - I might just be able to get it in time for my b-day. Also, does anyone have any idea of the acceptable price for one? Rep bombs coming your way guys.
I paid around £128 not including vat for mine, dropped in price by one pound from http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=MOL-IPS231P Great Monitor all round, visually a delight to use.
It says available in 2-3 days: in my experience that can mean "taking orders, never getting stock" /cynicism
They dont update the website very often i went into store but you could call them, said that when i went online the night before i went in and they had them in stock, give em a call they built the system in my Sig and it worked great! Sent from Bittech Android app
Amazon have them for a decent price. Scan are out of stock so can't say get it there. Ebuyer seem to be missing it as well.
IIRC Comet have started to stock the LG-IPS231P online only at ~ £145 (which is what I paid from Ebuyer). I have three of them D) and can't recommend them enough.
I got two for work due to eye strain. The difference is amazing. Turned down the brightness and now I do not have headaches any more. Though just about any TFT would have been better then what I had.
The IPS236V has a matte panel, it's just the frame that's glossy. Of course you're right about the rather nasty stand. I'm tempted to swap mine for the 231P, just for the nicer stand.
Just an update guys, it seems recently the IPS231P's have been going out of stock in many places, but I managed to find one in stock nearby, for a decent price, and I've bought it. Many thanks guys. Now, to Full HD awesomeness!
Sorry for hijacking a little bit but I'm in basically the same situation. These LG monitors look good but the 231ps look like they are often out of stock. Whats the difference between the 235 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-l...ce=google+shopping&utm_medium=google+shopping and the 236 - http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/9471720/art/lg/ips236v-pn-23-full-hd-led.html Also is there anything wrong with the 226? other than it is slightly smaller? Seems some have external power bricks.. ew Also do any have displayport?
