i'm trying to find a good monitor for around £250, i dont need anything professional grade so the bigger the better really. i'll use it with my pc and also my xbox 360, so i could really do with one that supports 1:1 pixel mapping otherwise it'll be oddly stretched, but can i even get that in this price range? i have a vga cable already for the 360, and it supports hdmi aswell so i dont need a monitor with component inputs specifically

I've got the Samsung, cost me £300 at the time, and I can't fault it at all. Nicely made, excellent stand and gives a fantasic image, it does chuck out a bit of heat though but I suppose all monitors and tv's will do this.

I think I've seen it on sale for about £240ish and if you hunt about you can get some e-tailers that will give you free delivery.

The Benq G2400W. Comes with D-SUB, DVI, HDMI and audio out. I'm very happy with it.

Definitely +1. It's a smidge over budget (£265ish) but really is a great screen.

its only a 20" but have you considered the Dell 2007 WFP?

Its an S-IPS panel, which is why its up in your prioce braket and not down at £150 like the rest of the 20" monitors, but seriously the picture quality is absolutely amazing.

It currently sits next to my 19" samsung syncmaster (TN+Film) and previously, i had thought that to have very good colour reproduction, but honestly, it hasn't. No PVA or TN+Film panels can come close to how accurate and clean and even the picture is on an SIPS panel, and this MORe than makes up for the lack of size compared to similar priced 22 or 24" monitors based on the lamer technology.

I know you said image quality wasnt such an issue for you, but neither did i until i realised what i was missing out on.

    You won't be disappointed.

I've two, and they are lovely, lovely screens. I game (PC and 360) and do general web browsing on them with no irritations what so ever.

I would have said Samsung T220. 20' wide, 1680*1050, impressive image. 190£ (a good friend of mine received it a week ago, I've had time to see it)
OR the T220HD version w/ HDMI and Freeview tuner for 260£.

    but too late !
    Enjoy your new screen !

just trying the monitor out now, and wow im impressed. i thought having such a large resolution on a small-ish screen would make everything hard to read but its all just so clear. i used a 32" tv before and all the text seemed tiny on that even tho it was much bigger
