    I changed an option in about:config the other day to get things working again. Anyone remember, off the top of their head, what the option is called?

    It was almost certainly xpinstall.signatures.required, which you will have toggled from true to false.

    Due to this debacle I finally moved to Waterfox (still have been using FF56), lets see how long it will last without breaking...

    Palemoon was unaffected, but it continues to use XUL rather than Webextensions so that's to be expected.
