shame there are no cheaper screens with better technology, someday cheaper oled technology will make this happen, the interesting thing about this sucker is the amount of inputs..... it has more inputs than a French prostitute....

Great review, very usefull for me! I'm in the market for a screen just like this. I am that gamer/moviewatcher that never edits a picture :p
I'm kinda missing the direct compare with some of it's competitors though, and i'd like some info on that :)
Sadly, this one is right there at the top end of my budget, and i'm eyeing the cheaper alternatives. Which ones should i look at and/or stay away from?

In particular i'm watching these screens:
    • Acer AL2416WB
    • Acer P241W
    • BenQ2400W
    • Illama E2403WS-B1
    • Samsung Synchmaster 245BW

Who has experience with any of those? Should i avoid it/buy it? I'm also very tempted somehow to save up and get this NEC, is that worth the extra?

    cheers!

Add this one to your list - P-MVA panel (180 degree h/v view), 800:1 contrast, 300cdm2 brightness, 6ms grey2grey, HDCP DVI, VGA, 8-bit (as opposed to 6-bit + dithering on TN). Pretty amazing for the price, imho. Other places that have it in stock sometimes are Tekheads, Aria and Misco. The AUO panel used in this is used in 24" monitors costing at least twice the price!

DXR - Kenco's already got it, and he loooooves it.

Xtrafresh, you've marked the BenQ G2400WA there - that's the analogue only version.
I've got the G2400W - VGA, DVI and HDMI, and it's great - a really nice screen, and an even better price!

Why? It's the exact panel as used in LG's, Samsungs that are twice the cost of this one. Basically, if you want more inputs, pay twice as much. If you want a different stand, pay twice as much. If you want a logo on the front that says Samsung or LG, pay twice as much. If you want a different surround around the screen, pay twice as much.

Do you see a pattern forming? Sorry to sound blunt, but this (at the moment) is a bloody bargain!

It's the exact same screen. I forget the model number, but it's an AUO 24" V3.

Yes, it's a make no-one's ever heard of. But there are other companies (which you or I have never heard of) that are making clones of THIS monitor! And then putting TN panels in!!

Yuraku ONLY use P-MVA panels for this monitor (atm, anyway).

You can tell I'm a bit pleased with mine!

the company seems to be a lot smaller then most other monitor makers, and we dont get their full range, were just too small to really matter

Does it have DVI or not? I know I can tell when monitors are in DVI or analogue mode.

i have the same doubt. I found that monitor at a german e-bay shop that's close enough for me to hop by, but they list the monitor as VGA only, which is unacceptable for me. Otherwise i'm really up for that deal, i already spotted it in the bargain thread you made for it

    aha, good point, edited :D

Manufacturer's website says it does have DVI, on their spec page
Also, google product search for Yuraku YV24WBH1 shows "DVI" in a lot of the product titles.

hrmmmm... will have to wait and see what kenco says!

Yup, has DVI, with HDCP. Even comes with a dvi to hdmi lead in the box.

Just make sure it definitely is Yuraku and not a clone though. I forget what the clone names are, but there's a thread on oc3d forums about it and they tend to have TN panels in them as opposed to Yuraku's P-MVA.

btw, 400kms?! Make sure you take your passport!

edit - just found three of the clones' names: Digimate/Novita/Iolair.. there are apparently more, though. [source]

Played a lot of WiC over the weekend and it's amazing at high res, and the monitor being as big as it is, blocks a further amount of peripheral vision so enveloping you in the action.

Xtrafresh - This link any good to you?
