I need a new sound card and I play a lot of games so it has to be a Creative X-Fi card I’m debating between these two....

    Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional - £89.17

    OR

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro with X-Fi Console UK Retail - £211.84

Is it worth getting the more expensive one? Or will the other one just be as good?

    Thanks

Don't go for the top of the range X-Fi unless your looking to create or edit music otherwise you'll end up with a bundle of features and software you won't ever use as its really aimed at folk into professional music editing. I went for the Fatal1y X-Fi with the breakout box as it has all the features I wanted and gives you a host of controls and connections at the front of your case (it sits in a spare drive bay - assuming you have one of course).
I seem to remember that there was a difference in features between the two Fatal1ty X-Fi cards other than simply one had the breakout box and the other didn't as well as being more expensive but I can't recall just what it was.
I wanted to get the connections at the front panel anyway but whatever the extra features were it did convince me to splash out the extra £50 or so. I think it might have been the feature that lets you hear 5.1 sound over a pair of standard headphones but I can't be certain of that.
I did buy it almost as soon as it came out so for all I know the cheaper X-Fi cards might have this feature now anyway. But I must just say that with the X-Fi I have never head such great sound out of my PC ever, I had an Audigy2 before the X-Fi and I thought that was pretty impressive but the X-Fi simply blew the Audigy out of the water and by the way the 5.1 sound through normal headphones works pretty well - F.E.A.R. was especially creepy with this feature.

The Fatal1ty Pro will do you, unless you need the 5.25" bay or break out box for extra connectors.
