    WOw that's great !

I envy you all USA people, It's nothing for you to get all these tools and materials :waah:

Can you please take a picture of the bit used for drilling it ?

    Thanks !

    Here you are:

That's a 1/2-inch titanium coated bit that I used to drill the large holes for the fittings. The end-mill is a 3-flute from Attitude Cutting Tools, 1/4-inch. This is used for cutting the channels and removing a lot of the excess, before I get down to filing.

    wow these are nice !

    are they expensive ?
    or about ~20$ ?

I wish I find some typed of them....

and what about the drilling machine ?
just a standing drill ? or...?

sorry for asking so much, but I'm on my way to making an Evaporator CPU Block, so I need to explore a bit

Thank you so much ! :thumb:

Drill bit was $16. End mill was dirt-cheap: bought them off ebay at $8 for a set of 4 of them.

Drilling machine is my trusty old drill press, which you can see in one of my first posts in this thread. The precision is terrible, but it seems to be sufficient for what I'm doing.

Very Nice, I'm going to subscribe to this. Im not much of a fan of waercooling stuff but I like to see people making homemade stuff.

I also see your from Atlanta, I used to live there, well kinda near there, I lived in woodstock.

    Cheers Mate and good luck.

    Update June 28

The CPU is now watercooled! Wahoo!!

So, of course it starts with soldering the top onto the base of the CPU block. Here you can see my hi-tech gravitation press device:

After cooling down a bit, it looks nice and messy:

The the handy end mill and drill press are used to remove the excess from the top:

The lots and lots of filing. :duh: Followed by lots and lots of sanding. :duh: And still it's not perfect. :sigh: Ah well, maybe I'll come back to this later. Or not.

So, then I had to do even more filing to modify the hold-down so it would fit around the fittings. Lesson -- figure out which hold down you're going to use before you start drilling the copper.

    But it looks good anyway:

Other nifty views of the setup:

The astute reader will have noticed that I've mentioned nothing about the radiator yet. Uh, well, it's not actually been built yet. However, here's the secret cooling mechanism:

Yep! Submerse the resevoir in a pot full of ice-water. Hehe.

Anyway.... CPU idles at 27 C and goes to blistering hot temp of 33 C under CPUBurn. I'd say it's working.

As far as the radiator goes, I've got a few ideas. Here's a teaser:

Those are 1-inch copper pipes, 2.5 feet tall. I want to make it into an art-deco looking piece of machinery. Any design gods out there want to make some suggestions for me?

    Cheers.

ooo, nice ideas for the rad...I'm not much of a designer, but my first thought is, clockwork? Kinda retro steampunk sort of thing maybe, see if you can find some of those big hand valves and see how they look on it.

Thats nice. looks good and works good aparently.

Off-topic: What program do you use for that render of yours. seen many use a 3d program! an i was wondering witch one.

    it doesnt have enough surface...

if you dont want to use fins, like in a normal radiator, i would do that:

    Code:
     *---* *---*
       | |
       |----*----|
       | |
     *---* *---*

one in the middle with 8 around it,
that would be much more efficient.
and not much more expensive to do

    Thanks!

Sofware is Alibre (www.alibre.com ). Relatively inexpensive, but lots of capability for solid modelling.

Right. I need to design the fins, but I want it to have the art-deco look, that's why I was asking for suggestions. That model is just the base idea.

    OKay,

I think you can reffer to my idea with 8 tubes
which, as i said - shouldn't be much more expensive...

Here's what I'm thinking about for the GPU block. It maybe a little too intricate for my clumsy drill press, but I'll take a crack at it anyway.

looks tough to pull off, but a good design. Not too restrictive but a lot of surface area so it should cool well, without some crazy impossible design.

If you can't fit all 5 channels in the GPU block, you might want to consider 4 with the 3 "divider" pieces on an angle to increase surface contact with the flowing water.

    So instead of ( |||| )
    You'd get ( \\\ )

    Just an idea.
Bound to be easier to machine too :)

Awesome stuff man, i'm watching this project :dremel:

looks nice, good job on finishing off that CPU block, looks good, any performace information as yet? anyway, that gpu block looks promising if you can pull it off. Any more teasers for the radiator, that looked nice, whatever it was, please, its eating away at me. good job, keep up the good work.
