Electronics PIC16F877A and, apparently, a poltergeist

    Try a different power supply. ATX likes to have amps for a load. That PIC wont draw anywhere near that.

    I just plugged in a PIC16F767, one that has an internal oscillator. It's working great. So I'm thinking there may be something wrong with my 877A. I fried the other two I had, and almost this one. It got warm, but still worked. Maybe it doesn't work entirely...

    If that were the problem, I would have noticed it. Switching power supplies need a load to operate properly, which is why I have a power resistor on the 5v rail to provide a default load. No, it's not the problem. It has powered everything else just fine.
