The service (Sky) is apparently being upgraded over the next few weeks so I'm hoping it gets a bit quicker.

Yep, thats the reason Im now off to Virgin. I know this isnt bad for an 8mbps connection, however according to BT I will never get more than 5 anyway. Also Virgin have just slashed the price of their 50mbps connection.

Careful. If you're in a heavily (or even moderately) studented area, Virgin sucks.

Customer service, reliability and speed seems to just drop off, they clearly have a flag on your account if you're in a studenty postcode that says "student scum, treat like poo"

I have nothing but good things to say about the customer service and reliability, and clearly the speed is there, but then again I live around 6 miles away from either uni and the city centre.

Thats my virgin line this year at the moment.

However in halls of residence 2 years ago, as some people may have seen in my custompc sig, i gained a 65mb/s download and a 25mb/s upload, and it wasnt a university line either, was ASK4. ( i was next door to BT in newcastle though )

I'll be upgrading to 60 megs Fiber for the same price at the same ISP. Woo. Could get 120 for a bit more but i think even 60 is overkill.
