Scratch Build – In Progress Project Glacial by Dia2777 - 05/06 Top fans hole, take a look!

Dear compmodder, stainless steel is near two times harder than alu, but after the cut you need only a bit of sandpaper to have a shiny metal, it's hard but it give you satisfaction, trust in me!
Last night was a modding night, now I want to arrive to the end of this stage of work, I want to do a little more, but firt I need to finish this stage, so here are the updated pics :











The last pic is the Zalman fan controller, want to take a closer look at the holes for locking it in place (and the dvd) ?

Now I must put in place the front fans, but without the screws, I donìt want some screws in the front of my Glacial! After lot of thinking, I decide to use two scrap pieces of blue UV reactive plexy :



I've decided to have two identical pieces, so I've done the 4 fixing holes, then I've bolt all together, and afer a little use of the sandpaper here is the result :



Not so amazing, I know.
But go on with the big center hole :



A little bit of polish compound :



Final result!



Now I must do a recessed hole to hide the screw head :

I'm quite satisfied, now to lock the whole assemply in place I use some silicone (may someone suggest me the right english word?)





If you take a closer look, the hole in the plexy is a little bit smaller then the necessary.
It's not an error, guy!
It's done to give a special glow to the fan contour, stay tuned for the next update where I will try to show you what I mean!

Ugh, the more I look at those snowflakes, the more I want to steal your dremel skills. Good work, and nice thinking with the plexi.

Tnx a lot for the comments, sorry but I had little free time, but I've done something to the Glacial.
It's time to finish the front panel, putting in place the letters
I've used an easy method, I sick all the letter to a plexy board from the backside with some silicone, but with a rather nice effect :





Look from the inside :



To archieve this particular effect ou have to put in place the silicone, then every 5 m,inutes or so pull the letters apart and replace. The silicone will do this great effect
Not it's time to rebuild all and we're ready to put some cable and some tubing :



A little speed cut to the front panel to make some space for the dvd burner :









Now I can do the side panels, follow me, guys, and you'll see some little ideas from my mind!

thanks for the advice...i'll probably try playin around with a scrap piece when i find one before usin it in anythin.

Absolutely lovin the fan grills, and the design of the snowflake goes very nicely with the fan.
