I'm still trying to find a suitable mattress. I only got the bed/desk together last night.

Thanks to a friend who owns a vinyl cutter I now have my decals on hand and will be applying them tomorrow.

 

Where did you get that bed? It's pwnage. Also this may seem like a random question but you wouldn't happen to have sketchup dimensions of a motherboard tray/backplate would you? (MATX)

I don't recommend trying to make your own tray. It takes forever and you could save yourself a ton of hassle by simply purchasing a replacement tray for $25.

Matt (a friend of mine) has a vinyl cutter and helped me get my decals made at a reasonable price. Other places were going to charge me $33 shipped for 2 8-inch decals.

His AIM is "Unknown Name1184" if anyone needs anything.

I'm currently working on changing the pump receptacle and getting the machine put back together. Been seriously distracted by other goings-on in the past two weeks.

 

I just realized the speakers on the back of the chair... nice... but are you limited with the chair movement due to the speakers cables. And don't they cut in the wheels of the chair?

 

I can't really move the chair around since it's on carpet. I pretty much leave in that one spot all of the time.

 

Very nice decals but do I see bubbles? Get them out!

The bubbles were easy to get out with a needle.
And at the moment I'm bleeding the air out of the loop. Hopefully for the last time.

Not a leak in sight! I do need to order some coolsleeves for the Pump>Rad connection though.

Hopefully there will be more pics later today.

 

It's not too late, just poke a small hole to the bubble with an x-acto knife (I know you like those Captain ) and just push the air out.

The mod is looking better by the minute, there's one thing I was wondering, are you going to leave those gray parts sanded like that? They might be different in real life though, in photos they seem a bit "half done" if you know what I mean.

The focus on the camera REALLY exaggerates the look of the sanded PVC, you would have to put your face right up against those pieces for them to look like that in person. In person it's just one big flat mass of gray. The sanding helped remove the sheen from the plastic and the texture is really difficult to see.
I chose PVC because it will only improve in appearance the more it gets beat up. It looks vaguely like a cartoony steel once it's sanded.
Excluding the nickel-plated fittings I want this whole machine to lack glossiness so that scratches or scuffs are easily sanded off or cleaned away.

 

I thought that this might be the case. Photographing mods is really difficult if you want the photo to look just as it does in real life. I don't know if even professionals can do it quite right (they come pretty close though).

How near is the end for the Slug now, there can't be much left to do anymore? The cool thing about ending this mod is that you can go back to Mk.6

1. Well, the loop is perfected. All I have to do is assemble it.
2. No kidding. Took me a good two weeks to get my room organized to the point that I can get back to projects. And I do have deadline for finishing Mk.6. I have to go on a month long trip to Beijing at the end of June to finish my degree and I would like to complete Mk.6 before then.

That is a NICE looking rig!

Needs cable management. Not the case, the case is nice and clean. The desk, . I like the layout of the desk, too. And the earlier shot of the comp mounted under the desk with the insides visible through the desktop. Cool idea.

 

That looks just unbelieveble! I love this kinda futuristic industrial look.
