Every time you say Obutto I think of Linux for some reason.

Ouch. £462. I guess if we spend £300+ on a wheel then we can spend on Ubuntu.

I woulda probably bought if I had the space and deadication. I wouldn't rule it out for the future though.

I spent many a year just bolting a G25 onto a desk when I fancied a drive - it was fine. No reason to have a full cockpit setup unless you've got the space.

A desk and a half decent wheel is 90% as fun as a proper cockpit.

Will have to get them together for a picture, have some fantastic technical drawings, they're all getting framed I have them up there just to get an idea for placement.

Lots of little framed tit bits like cigarette cards with 50s cars on there, some programs too. The only one that I didn't use was the 2008 monaco programme.

Have a JB helmet, the brawn luminous one to come aswell, I'll be adding visor stickers and sponsor logos then using a small ikea table as a base for a display.

The last thing to be put in will be the simrig as it will have to be constructed from scratch, going down the PVC route again but this time allowing for triple monitors and actually integrating the PC into the frame and then i'll give it the 'engine look' maybe start with something like a coolermaster V8 and work my way up.

Cool, more close up pics of that lot :)

Mine has a few photos too

On the wall I have my back to there a F1 poster signed by Vettel and Webber in Vettel's first championship winning season, in a matching frame.

    yum yum yum!

Unfortunately my walls are off-white and I really don't feel like painting....again. Really ruins some of the posters and frames I had in mind.

I'd nab a G27 if budget didn't prevent it. Not the best Sim Racing wheel, but hey. Better than nothing.

I would recommend checking ebay 'buy it now' sales every so often, can get some refurb bargains etc.

Will do. I am reluctant, but I've been patient on the pure chance I'll stumble into a cheap one with an actual Clutch and shifter.

This is how the majority of my online races end up. I was going to film a lap.. didn't work out that way. http://youtu.be/3TP03EihaoQ

Ive got the g27. I would to get some clubsport pedals for it too, but they are hard to get hold off.

Do you guys think the fanatec is a better wheel than the the g27?

    Which fanatec?

The CSR-Elite is much better, but the others are probably about the same. The other fantecs (based on the '911' base) are more customisable and tweakable, but not as well made, and much higher failure rate.

Here we go, managed to actually complete some laps. A boring video, but at least it is how I intended it to be. http://youtu.be/hs7bFgMEzLs

I know the feeling of completing an awesome practice and quali, only to have some idiot brake test you or rear end you at the very first corner. I tend to hang back at the start and let the idiots sort each other out :)

SimBin titles are rife with it. But the multiplayer is very easy to setup and lots of fun so it kind of levels it out. I only recently discovered Race Injection and it's been a good laugh, starting to recognize regular players etc.

I havent played any of the Race games in a while - they are good though. If you see 'Alex Ball' or 'Altrezia' on there, it's me :)
