Mushkin, 256 MB, bought about 6 years ago, still works great.

MPIO, 128 MB, bought about 6.5 years ago, controls are finicky, but other wise works fine.

Ah I had, have, the original six gig model, the version one, not the "C" or the ten gig one that came out about a fortnight after I bought mine, but for £50 less; no I had this beast, the only MP3 that had anti-theft camouflage in looking like a cheap, or just really old, portable CD player.
Man! It was a wonderful piece of kit. :)

Or there are those of us who came in at the beginning, or very close to it at least, and had a choice of a large initial outlay on the either the Creative or Archos jukeboxes, or a stupendously huge outlay over a period of time to make up the storage in flash cards. (I seem to remember working out at the time it would cost upwards of £10,000 to buy six gig worth of flash cards)

And then along comes Apple, six months late, a gig under weight, and costing £100 more; just to add insult to injury every member of the technology press acts like Apple have invented the concept of mobile music. Despite having showered praise onto Creative's and Archos' offerings often only on the previous page. :wallbash:

Either "Other, Please Specify" or take the majority of your players and vote for apple :thumb:

Original iRiver iHP-120 - MP3/Ogg Vorbis/WMA/ASF/WAV with remote, FM radio, optical line in/out & SRS. Running the RockBox firmware.. Bloody good machine, if a bit bulky..

iRiver tech was really good until they went all "Microsoft plays-for-sure"

I don't understand why Archos are so under-appreciated.. Their original video players with built-in recorders were awesome. I'm surprised they are not more popular, particularly on a tech-site like this..

Easy- the form factor. People want some slick, slim and handheld, and the Archos players are just too out-of-the-norm to get any massive market share. Technically they're brilliant, and the size is perfect if you're going to be watching video on them, but they're just too unconventional to appeal to your typical iPod buyer.

I had a 3 gen 15 gig fire wire only ipod that I just gifted to a friend. And since I hate having a phone and a mp3 player all the time, I have only one now. My Blackberry Pearl. It can play movies and mp3s, has a play list shuffle and repeat. Simple but effective for what I need.

Used to be an original Apple iPod Nano 4GB Black until it got stolen in Paris over new year :( Got the insurance money but never replaced it (spent on a mtb).

These days I've got an Epson P3000. Ok it's not got quite the portability the Nano had but it serves the purpose for which it was bought excellently and doubles as a music player when I need it (such as flights, trains, or other long journeys).

Quick question for Zune owners- does it preserve tags on photos, ie those from Windows Photo Gallery?
