I'm quite excited about Rage. I like the way it looks, and I also like the gameplay. I've always liked id games, ever since I played Doom when I was 5 years old. However, this game seems better then any other id game I've played so far. I think I'll like it just as much as I like Bioshock, maybe more.

Is anyone else looking forward to playing Rage? Share your thoughts.

ID haven't released a good game in such a long time, they've become a non-entity in PC gaming so I'm not interested. Heard many boasts prior to Doom 3 and Quake 4.

Would be nice if they actually made a game to accompany the graphics engine.

Last ID game I played was Quake II.

To be honest, IDs games quite often look awesome, but I find the actual gameplay very boring. I still feel like I'm playing Quake 1 with pretty graphics layered on top. Things have moved on. Having said that, I do like pretty graphics, so I'll probably buy Rage, but not on release.

Has anyone cared about id's games since the shite that was Doom3 and Quake4... just give the tech/engine to a company that can produce a game with merit!

quake 4 was raven. and D3 was how Carmack envisioned the original Doom.

Wow... you're right... Quake4 was Raven... but it was still crap!

Doom3 might have been what Carmack envisioned but it was a terrible game - compare it to the gameplay from Far Cry, which came out 6 months earlier!

I am always right, and that summer was a 3 way figh between FARCRY, HL2 and DOOM3 which imo were all excellent PC FPS.

Well HL2 was an excellent game, the other two were excellent tech demos.

Being a tech demo and having little original gameplay doesn't necessarily mean they're not worth buying, though. I keep saying this: a game doesn't need to have awesome gameplay to be interesting. Psychonauts had naff-all gameplay; I played it almost exclusively for the humour. Doom 3 I played purely for the graphics and design elements: it was a joy to behold, even if I didn't have to think much to proceed.

It's all good, provided you know what you're buying. Disappointment occurs when you have inaccurate expectations. I'll buy this game if it has nice graphics, I just won't expect anything else (that way, I can only be satisfied or pleasantly surprised).

Well, I for one thought Quake 4 was a fun and decent game; Doom 3 was also good but really messed things up by not allowing you to duct tape your flashlight to your guns!

I'll be looking forward to Rage.

Sadface, I thought we could be Futurama buddies. But yeah, it would be pretty annoying having two users having the almost identical avatars, I think I'll change mine :worried: .

Yeah, I don't think I'd enjoy the vechicle combat/racing too much. I never did like Motorstorm. I'd still try it though, despite the most likely bad plot and the driving gameplay. IMO, there aren't that many good games coming out soon, and I do enjoy games such as Fallout 3 and Bioshock. I always enjoy RPG elements, and cool settings like sewers and abandoned, secret government buildings.
