1700+ overclocking - please help

    i got a amd 1700+ and i wanna overclock it . can you tell me how far i can overclock my processor btw i got crappy 2100 ram

    this is what it says on the core

    AMD ATHLON
    AXDA1700DUT3C 9269327260686
    JIUCB 02515PMW (M) (C) 1999 AMD

    btw the processor is unlocked from the factory :rock:

    i got my athlon xp 1700+ palamino core up to
    1.6ghz was 8x200mhz
    i joined the L1 bridge to unlock multipliers
    i also had pc2100 ram, if i had better ram i think i cudda
    got up to about 205 - 210 fsb

    all CPUs overclock differntly. you will have to overclock slowly, by trial and error.

    also depends on your cooling... and motherboard. also there is no point running 200+mhz FSB if you only have pc2100 ram. i'd invest in some Pc3200 or better.
    Getting past 2ghz should be easy :p

    do you think i can overclock my processor high like other people did with their's if i get geil golden dragon 3700 2x256 memory
    im paying abt £80 quid for this memory is thisk ok for the price or can you recommend any other memory for the same price btw i wanna overclock so i need a good memory i read some reviews about golden dragon and they seemed to be the best overclockers in the roundup :thumb:

    Several comparisons show that the high end brands of RAM (Geil, Corsair, etc) give little advantage (2-3% performance) over good old crucial RAM. You'd be better off saving the money for a new chip (mobile barton 2500 is only £60-70), motherboard or graphics card. :idea:
