Chaos Rising was an expansion as well and it still retails at €20 on steam. The addition of campaigns for the main races sounds very promising as well as having more character to all the races. The different approaches that the various races have as well sound excellent and more in keeping with the theme as well. Orks get the standard 4 squad leaders (Boss, Mek, Jump-pack, Shoota) as do the eldar i would imagine, however the 'nids only get the Swarmlord, however you can tailor him to suit your gamestyle (swarms of minions, or groups of big griblies.) I reckon I'll be ordering the Collectors edition of this. Would be nice to have, the box art is nifty and the additional wargear (whilst most of it is pointless) could be useful. Hopefully the inquisitional resources available to the IG will be useful. SOme penitent engines would be cool.
I'm gona try and pick up the collectors edition, I absolutely love dawn of war nifty box ( disk copy always a bonus with steam), all the DLC = money well spent in my opinion March is going to be an expensive month Dragon age 2, Crysis 2 and this my poor bank balance
Never really got on with DOW2, loved DOW1 though. Shame because looks wise, its a stunner. Maybe I'm playing it wrong.
Well, if you're more of an RTS fan then you wouldn't, since it plays more like an RPG. I preferred the first DOW and even though I could see DOW 2 was still a good game, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Same here, though Chaos Rising is a definite improvement in terms of gameplay and the overall campaign structure. I don't think Relic realised that all people wanted with DOW2 was DOW1 with shinier graphics!
like every other game thats on steam, it get release at top-wack price, Amazon had chaos rising at £17 on release, no reason to thing this will be different.
Remember, there is a campaign in retribution for EVERY RACE. That's Eldar, Orks, Imperial Guard, Space Marines and Tyranids.
The collectors edition is only available from THW.com, but for €40, it's the same price as any normal release, so I'll be taking that route I think.
THQ have said that if you buy the non-collector's edition, you can still buy the equipment packs for your forces as separate DLC after release. The CE is useful if you know you're going to buy the DLC anyway (plus the extras that the CE offers).
You can only get the CE from THQ.com/uk - However, they haven't put up preorders for the CE yet, only for the normal edition. I am waiting for the CE too The Tyranid edition is exlusive to THQ, the Ork edition is exclusive to Steam.
