    umm why would you want to use raid 0 over usb?

    when you used the big switch what was the available drive space?

    That looks pretty good to me, most folks aren't bothered for a fancy HDD caddy.

    Very cool. I was going to buy a RAID 1 enclosure but considering RAID 1 isn't a backup I decided against it.

    Isn't that the point of Just a Bunch of Disks? Or am I misunderstanding the sentence? "JBOD" for independent drives, "big" for one big drive...

    I'm guessing "big" is just JBOD as most people understand it - where multiple disks are stitched together as one big logical drive, but written to independantly. The "JBOD" setting of the switch sounds like no RAID whatsoever - just as if you'd plugged 2 hard drives into a machine.

    So where does the RAID0/1 come into play?

    How big is the power brick?

    seeing i can get a single enclosure for less than half the price (10euros) it's not really that cheap.

    But you can't buy a *dual* enclosure in the UK for this price. The power brick is a normal size. Not particularly big, but not very small either.

    When it comes to external drives, it's either got to be small and portable (this isn't) or be network attached (this isn't).
    No sale here.

    Perfect product for me I think, have several spare HDD's about and always wanted reduce number of plugs in the wall, 2 HDD's in 1 box, WIN.
    Performance not so important, for that I use the ones in the computer

    Since there doesn't seem to be any actual RAID going on, two enclosures, a USB hub and some duct tape on the other hand might be more price competitive...

    But that needs two USB ports, this only needs one.

    I gave up on external enclosures, no real need for them. I'd rather have the disks in my PC. USB sticks are large enough these days for any files I need to transport.

    Really I'm struggling to find patience to use even my 2,5" external HDD over USB, and that's only 120 GB. Maybe some people actually have use for painfully slow, huge external drive, but not me. Give a cheap dual drive box with Gb-ethernet or e-sata and I'll be impressed.
