My inspiration for this came from Pugs Dragon mod. I picked up some perforated metal, aluminum, and just yesterday started cutting. There are a few things I need to touch up, which once I get some scrap 2x4 I can carve into shape. Currently the metal is only being held in by friction.

I just noticed in the photo where the metal took a bit of a scrap, I'll have to try to buff it out. I plan to leave the aluminum raw, and not paint it. I also plan to continue the carbon fiber decal down the rest of the front of the case. Also the "ribbing" on the bottom of the case is going to be cut off, and replaced with the metal. Once that is done, I will likely put an LED fan behind it, and possibly some LEDs around the door (of course, I won't be able to remove the door then...)

All the cutting was done with a hacksaw for the case front, and tin snips for the metal.

Let me know what you think, and of any improvements. I do have a few bits that need to be hammered a little more, but I need something smaller than the 2x6 that makes up my deck railing first...
    :hehe:

How did you get that 'carbon fiber' look on the door.

    Murrays Auto Parts.....

They sell a roll of vinyl decal that looks like carbon fiber, about $10-15 for a 30"x36" or so roll. Also available in white carbon fiber look...
    :naughty:

    Thanks!

I like your case. Where'd you pick up the mesh?

BTW, you may want to reduce the size of your signature.

The best place that I have found for mesh is mnpctech.com. They sell what they call 'modder's mesh'.

Picked it up in a sheet from McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/)
Was only about $30-35 including shipping, for a 30"x40" piece. Considering I'm going to be using a 24" square hunk to cap off a roof vent to keep birds from getting in, it wasn't a bad price.

As far as the stuff from mnpctech.com, I thought about going with that, but they only offer 12"x12" pieces on the web site, for about $10. I figure I've got the equivalent of about 7 peices, for about half the price...

Yeah, I didn't realize it would be so long, I've dumped the sig until I can make up something better....

    Nice work!

I like the contrast between the mesh and the fiber look.
When you bring the "carbon fiber" down the front...
It will give you the option to fill in the CCFL switch and
relocate (if so desired). Come to think of it that rocker
will probably blend in good with that material. Yea those
buck tooth grills on the Chieftecs are kind of unsightly...
and will look great when the mesh is hung.First thing I
hacked on mine (grill). Just started this mod and may
post in work logs if anyone is interested.
