Does that mean Google is going to have to remove ^that^ link from the results when people do a search for one of those terms ? I'm confused, is Google going to link to sites that have the links that they them selves have removed
Yo, dawg, I heard you liked getting links removed so we created a link to your link so you can get the link removed while you get the link removed...
Google under fire from regulators on EU privacy ruling http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/24/us-google-eu-privacy-idUSKBN0FT1AZ20140724 Looks like the EU isn't happy with limiting the right to be forgotten to Europe. It also seem they are not happy with Google et al notifying the owners of the websites that they have been removed from search results.
The House of Lords isn't a fan of the EU ruling - http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201415/ldselect/ldeucom/40/4002.htm Pts 60-62 - 'Conclusions and recommendations'
Who would have thought that a bunch of privileged octogenarians would have a better understanding of the internet than a load of EU bureaucrats.
From: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...nworkable-and-wrong-in-principle-9637498.html Doesn't that conflict with something like 50% of recent measures to control the internet?
If we are talking about the UK, my guess would be 100% of internet control measures. Our politicians do seem to love giving responsibility to private companies, that way they don't get the blame when things go pete tong.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-28672121 So Wikipedia has decided to publish links that Google has 'forgotten'. Every time I see one of these news stories I just think "Streisand Effect, go!"
I’m right, you’re wrong, says Europe’s new Justice Commissioner to data privacy critics http://diginomica.com/2014/08/18/im-right-youre-wrong-says-europes-new-justice-commissioner-data-privacy-critics/ ... And there was me thinking Google mainly provided links to other companies handling citizens’ personal data, has she mistaking Google and the like as the companies that actually handle the data ?

Bit of a blast from the past, but the BBC are making a stand: List of BBC web pages which have been removed from Google's search results A few random clicks and it's clear that the majority are about serious crimes that should never be forgotten.
The odd thing is that if you search for some of the people involved in the BBC articles Goggle still returns results.
It's not necessarily the main subject of an article whose name is the one for which it is removed. Try some of the other names in the articles and you might find it is actually one of those that doesn't bring a result, I think.
