    Ugh this is irritating. Mint is one of the only distros that is easy to recommend when it comes to newbies to Linux, and one of the attractions to Linux is it's natural protection against malware. If this happened to a distro like Slackware, I don't think it would really matter as much.

    Personally though, I kind of forgot Mint existed. I haven't heard anything about it in maybe 2 years.

    It's the only distro I've had much luck with - plain Ubuntu wasn't as seamless to install so I'd recommend it (despite this brief issue)!
