    1. If it's not your CPU, ram, or VGA, then it might be your internet connection?

    2. Here :search: next time. If I can find links in 10 seconds, there's no reason you cannot. This is a US link, do a google and you'll get hits closer to where you are.

Well, that speed is pretty bad BUT shouldn't yield an 800 ping. I played BF2 on a 256kbit dl and 256kbit upload connection and once I was in-game things smoothed out a bit.

In BF2 there was a way to select servers based on ping. In other words, maybe you're getting higher ping due to the combination of your connection rate and the server you're on.

A few people are going to come here and say it's your connection that's the problem. Your upload speed might be too slow, but I really can't confirm or disqualify that possibility. Like I said, at one time I played with a slower download speed.

Is your computer connected directly to the modem or is there a router in between?

Try different servers by filtering the pings.

With the router, are you connected wirelessly or hard wired? If wireless, first check the speed on any computer that is connected directly to the router. Also, if wireless, what is the connection quality? It should say if you right click the adapter in the system tray.

    1. GJ on supporting EA a-holes.
    2. your computer literally has a 1% effect on your internet speed, get better internet to get less ping.
    3. Judging by your very, very...very poor grammar, I'm going to go ahead and say you do not live in the USA, where most servers are based. Try playing on a local european, or Israeli or w/e server.

WTF? An 'american' lecturing on grammar? I've seen it all now.

Since when were most servers based in the US? There are plenty of servers world-wide. Obviously, the Arctic Survey people aside, most people can find a healthy selection of servers in their region.

I'm Canadian not American, and I think even a 7 year old could give him tips on grammar.

Not everyone who participates on this forum learned english as their primary language. Cut them some slack - they give it a good try.

Plus, how/why is it so preposterous of a notion for an American (or Canadian in this matter) to comment on someone's grammar. Nows youse best get ova yourself now, ya he'ar?.

    ^ lol.
As for pings, I ping the average US sever at around 100-200 (west coast severs would be worse obviously) but as said when your searching for severs click ping at the top to organise the list by ping then try and get on the lowest ping server you can find. :thumb:

    1. How is someone who clearly uses English-as-a-foreign-language supposed to understand this?
    2. 'Your computer..... internet speed; get a better internet connection to get a lower ping.'
    3. 'European'. 'w/e'? WTF does that mean? And why an Israeli server?

I used 'american' in the broader sense, hence the quotes.

The moral of this story is that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Back on-topic - I think our resident Computer King needs to tell us which part of the world he is from. I know there are a number of good servers in/around India, also in Hong Kong & The Philippines. Plenty of good servers in Australia... Unless he is US-based, he really shouldn't be hanging around US servers.

ComputerKing - in case you haven't already realised, if you click on a column title in the server browser, it will sort the server list by that field. So if you click on the word 'Ping', it will sort the servers in order of latency. Once you have done this, let us know what the lowest pings are... [ignore the ones saying 0]
