    Budget: £1000

Main uses of intended build: Gaming, general internet usage.

Parts required: Everything inside the case, including case, excluding HDD.

    Monitor resolution: two monitors 1920-1080.

will you be overclocking: Maybe in the future.

I've been looking at building a new computer, got around a grand to spend on it and I've got these components so far

any final tweaks any one would suggest?

Will you need Scansure? It's on your basket adding £26.32 to the total.

Also you have more than 20 posts so you're entitled to free delivery which also frees up £9.58 off your total. - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=186923

Are you a student? Or know anybody that is ;), Windows 8.1 Pro x64 is £49.99 if you're a student/know somebody that will get you one.

All this money saved could be put towards a better cooler/PSU.

RAM - I always advise against larger heat sink ram especially when using air coolers to maximise compatibility, if you get an AIO hyrdo cooler then you will have no issues with larger heat sink ram.

Rest of it looks ok, great graphics card, excellent cpu, good motherboard, dvd-rw's are mostly the same, Samsung SSD - can't go wrong with that, corsair Case - I'm a fan of corsair cases.

Oh thanks for the tips, I'd totally forgotten about the free delivery! I'll look into the AIO hydro cooler, since in my last computer my CPU fan did actually make atleast one of the RAM slots unusable :/

Minus the scansure, not sure how to remove that from the saved basket.
Plus windows for £49.99 makes its a few pennies from £1000.

I agree with modd1uk about the savings. Grab a student 8.1 if you can! Anyone with a college or university email is all that is needed.

The DVD drive, really? Is it only going to be used for the 8.1 install? If so a USB stick is all that is needed you can download the bootable ISO directly from Microsoft with the product key.

I would get the EVO 850 over an 840 if it is available at the time of purchase, the nand is much improved.

The rest looks solid. A better PSU and cpu cooler could be had with the savings :)

This is the student deal - www.microsoftstore.com/store/msuk/en_GB/pdp/Windows-8.1-Pro-Student/productID.288533400

    It's not a cut down/modified version its proper Windows 8.1 Pro :).

Dizzi speaks sense, if the 850 is in stock at the time of purchase then order it, if not the 840 is still a great SSD.

The money saved on delivery, windows, scan sure could/should be put towards a better cooler :).

Regarding the RAM, it's a common thing a lot of people overlook, but if the case can fit a decent AIO cooler in then get one with the money saved :p

A damn fine build. Hope those 850s ship soon, particularly if you have an itchy trigger finger!

Yeah, well I put together the one I'm using about 4 and half years ago, so should be okay :D And I've had to replace my mobo 2 years ago and my cpu fan a year ago, so I'm too rusty!

Even better if you can source a free legit copy, if not £49.99 for an OS isn't expensive at all.

On the IT page of the UoP student webpage, it has a link for purchasing software (as students have ridiculous discounts on software nowadays..). I'd look about, or ask your Uni's IT people about it.. Each student at UoP gets a login for it!

If your a student check if the educating body is part of MSDNAA. You might be able to get windows for free plus a whole other host of MS software on top of that.

https://www.dreamspark.com/ is where you can check and download from
