What do you think is the highest stable OC possible with just air cooling for an XP-M 2500+? I'm thinking about getting one for my second gaming rig. Thanks.
read the dfi, pifast, winrar, and superpi threads around here, you will learn eveything you need to know. ps. about 2.8ghz with a lot of hard work.
Kam's managed to hike his up to about 2.7 ghz with just air cooling, but thats realy good air, murdoc has reached about the same with air but that was with a cache unlocked thorton....
I got mine to 2.5, yodasarmpit has had his slightly further i think. If i remember correctly, he got it to 2.7, but that was anything but stable
Most speeds that have been quoted are only bench stable and by no means Prime95 stable. From experience with mine i'd say its easy to get them up high bench stable 2.7GHz+ but getting them fully stable is much more difficult (but that may just be my rig). 2.6ghz is attainable 2.4-2.5 should be quite doable. All depends on the setup and the chip.
should an aircooled setup that gives me 49/50degrees underload w/1.9vcore be able to cope with getting a mobile to ~2.7ghz?
Just goto Tesco's m8, wonder up to the customer services and ask fior their Tescos finest air, tesco value is carp....
2.8 on air That's really going some - must have their own personal hurricane Mind u gess it depends on the voltage / temps you're willing to push...
I managed 2.8GHz on water, and it was stable, well the BSOD was stable anyway http://www.yodasarmpit.co.uk/pics/m2500/2818a.JPG System crashed less than 5 seconds after taking this
spot on, ive got mine a 2.4(200x12) running perfect, never had a problem, running with a volcano 9, so its not cooled to any great extent, 47 idle, 53 loaded, with a nice 1.7 core volts. I would imagine with some better air cooling such as a heat pipe(thermalright me thinks) and a big assed 92 mil fan it would get to 2.5 easy. also depends on the voltage you're having to run it at.
