i'm trying to get some one to install it on our site for me. Is there anyone out there to help e-mail me at foundsoul@woh.rr.com
There really is not an install to it. persay.. it's just an extract the files.. I think the new version has you setup options via web for how you wana access your databases.. i just did mine (user / password form, sessions w/ cookies)
I read the Documentation.html didn't get it. and yes the readme says to open Documentation.html for install instructions. Not much help on that part even though i'm a noob.
1) download it 2) unzip it 3) edit config file (it's all fairly self explanetary in there as it's well commented) 4) upload
If you've got some decent control panel access to your webhost, just use a .htaccess file on the PMA folder
all i have is a ftp and i had to upload phpmyadmin. I have it working but i have to upload the right confif file to it don't get hacked cause of lack of user name and pass login i am looking for. If some one can post a code that would be great.
The steps I took were: Install phpMyAdmin 2.6.4-pl3 Modify the config file to use cookies and set any other default variables that need setting (I NEVER put a password in the config file) Then I log in as my main account (root by default, but your host may have something else) then from there I go to the permissions page and set up users and passwords. I have installed 4 different versions of phpMyAdmin and the most recent version has never worked for me. I don't know what's up, but I follow the instructions to a "T" and it refuses to log me in. I have since given up on the new version of phpMyAdmin and just use the command line for admin tasks (which I know is not an option for you at the moment) I just thought I'd throw this in there before people kept harassing you about the simplicity of phpMyAdmin... because for me, the recent version was such a horrible setup process that I just gave up. (my only guess is they forgot to mention some obscure permission setting somewhere in their manual)
