News Plextor announces M6e gaming SSD

That's a massive, massive PCB for such a tiny card. Plextor need some industrial designers on that.

 

Will it really make a difference over Sata when actually gaming? I doubt it.

 

Should have made it to half height card specs and ship it with both brackets so they could sell it to SFF system users too...

 

With SATA Express on the horizon i cant see add-in cards such as this having much market appeal.

 

They should have build it like an 'up gradable' Lego block, so you can add storage modules to it.

 

Looks like a decent card, however, pricing is really what matters. If this is much more than a standard S-ATA SSD then the small "real world use" hardly makes it worth it. If it's priced competitively then it's a decent bit of kit.

 

Have they not seen the daughter board supplied with Asus' Maximus VI series?

 

Surely at that potential size (as in remove the unnecessary excess green!) it doesn't even need a back-panel bracket and could just slot straight into the PCI-E 1x slot?

Yes, sort of, go google mSATA for more information. Most netbooks use them.

 

Ah no, not MSATA, specifically mPCIe (same socket, different pinout). PCIe x 1 theoretically has a higher transfer rate than SATA from version 3 onward.
