thanks guys!!! thank you for your comment yes of course this is a boring grey color but I don't want to paint them (just want to keep warranty...) but I m actually thinking about other solution to give psu and dvd drive nice looking thank you for these precisions, i must say that you re right, the case is power-on for a few days and the cracks problem appear with wood's expansion due to the temperature of internals components (I dont think that came with humidity because the wood is very dry...) the problem come from the different rate of expansion between wood and lexan parts, hopefully it is just situated on the spots of contact of lexan and wood and at the top of case ...the face is great ; after have been thinking a lot about this big problem, I don't find a really satisfied painting solution , then I m going to repair this in another way and this will be the next update btw if someone think about good idea, you re welcome guys
I would say the answer to your problem is to use a black latex house paint, maybe satin finish would be close to the finish you have now. This type of paint is made to expand, just need to find a sprayer. Oh and hi ppl been fallowing this post for sometime. I'm new to this forum but not to modding.
Heat does not affect wood by itself, it changes wood moisture content; equilibrium moisture content varies depending on temperature. Even if wood is "dry", it is at equilibrium with your house humidity; if you prevent moisture change temperature effect will be much less. Paint also helps cause it makes vapor mouvement slower.
If I remember correct when we were shopping for stain for our deck they had stain that were solid colors and you could not see the wood grain so maybe that would be better because the wood would kind absorb the paint. I would think that would not crack because it's made for wood and the outside. Also with the Pro R/C cars you can get clear bodies and paint the inside and they use a speacial paint that never really dries underneath that way it will flex with the body instead of cracking.
I take notes of your remarks guys very little update : the UFO effect may be I ll try it with red light
Looks sweet in the dark , but I didn't like the non-gloss finish when using your flash or in normal light. Maybe just me, still one helluva case generally speaking.
oh man this looks sweet. cant beleived i missed this one anyways... enjoy your new case and whatever goes inside it
piloux, i said it before and ill do it again, it's f#cking beautiful. Excellent work . I hope to see more mods of u here @ bit-tech (or on casejunkies.com ) U made an A grade casemod
Ha, I have those phillips headphones! Not half bad, but they get hot after awhile. But aw man what a hot case. It makes me want to do things I know would be frowned upon.
greats comments , thanks a lot I still have some little things to do to finish the case and repair the cracks on the top...
well I re-read some posts and Isaw that i forgot to show you the changes I made with blowholes dust filters : well I think that's better like this
That is just incredible! Job well done indeed. It looks great in matt black I think and the filters give it a finishing touch.
