    Trap home bokke!

It's always nice to see another SA fellow on here :) I don't think I can showcase it at rAge, because it is in Jhb/Pretoria each time, and I live in Melkbosstrand. I will show it off at the OC once. (about 900-man LAN)

Lol it was quite stressing to do it, but I just had faith that it will come out well, and it did :)

    =================================

My worklog has been out of date for a few days. I have actually made quite some progress, but im sorry that I don't have pictures of the work in progress.

Here you can see the parts that are done (except for some cutouts):

I made everything my hand, using normal power and hand tools such as my drill ,jigsaw, grinder, files, and tapping tool.
The aluminium is 3mm thivk so it's very hard to bend, so I used my grinder and grinded a slotwhere the sheet must be bent, clearing out some of the material that will be in the way when bending. It makes it much easier and it bends like a 1mm sheet :p

The finish looks horrible but there hasn't been any sanding on it.

    Heres the pics :D

I also started making a waterblock. It's just an experimet, and if it works like a reasonable air cooler, then I'm happy, and I'll use it. The base is made from 8mm aluminium. A member on the Losias.net forum, Cuzza, helped design the base fin layout:

I am not done yet but here's what I have done. I cut the fins out with a dremel, but I have no more discs left.

The chassis is looking really good, not as big as I thought it might be. Nice work dude.

Well done for having a go at making you own block as well. It'll be interesting to see how it comes out and how well it works....+rep

    Nice work.

However, I do have one question:

The top plate doesn't look like it's a nice and smooth bend all the way?

yes the case is quite small. Well, that's relative. Will be as big as a G5 once the wood is on.

The top plate must have a part of it flat and the curve start later, but i see what you mean, that it's looking quite, um, not smooth. I'll have a look at it tomorrow. +rep.

Looking good & on track nice work Razer :) & can now see from the design where that sweet res goes :thumb: it's great to be seeing more people have a go at making their own water blocks too.

Don't worry about the messy looking alu until it's finished :D just stay focused on getting the form right first :), I wasted extra resources just to keep it nice while in progress, was silly, I re-brushed about 5 times  if I'd have left it looking messy through the log it would have looked extra nice when it was complete rather than people getting used to the look :D.

It's a nice clear-out design with some original ideas.
I will keep an eye on this thread.

Well, it could be the camera lens that's fooling all of us, but I doubt it. ;)
Rolling that sheet could fix the curve, but be careful not to roll it TOO much....

Thanks Wayne :) The res is giving some difficulties but we'll get everything sorted.

    Thanks :)

I don't have a sheet roller nor do I know anyone who has one, but I have strong hands :naughty:
