@Pranja - I have a feeling the cat is thinking the same thing.
-You had better get your final pics before the claws come out. The only way you could make that more of a cat magnet is to wrap the cords in bacon.

I like it, it´s simple done and looks really good.

 

Well, in our case I would have to put it into a cardboard box for it to become a Cat-magnet! Although attaching food to it would also definitely work

Anyway, thanks for the compliments guys! Glad people like it! I was indeed going for the 'unobtrusive' look or atleast the non-computer look, so mission succesfull. My girlfriend still doesn't understand what its about though...Resulting in questions like "So that thingy has to go next to the TV? And then what does it do?"

Ow and for the record, even if the cat decides it will make an excellent nail sharpening object, then the cladding is replaced easy enough! (as long as she doesn't tear up the Pi itself). Would even give my girlfriend the opportunity to make it fit better with he color scheme of the room

And its done folks! The final step was to glue in the mid-plate and paint it a nice matte black.

For your entertainment I made a set of assembly pictures and some final images showing the overall concept and the possibilities a bit better!

So, without further ado, the assembly of PiQu!

Step 1: Collect material (forgot to add the cladding to this picture )



Step 2: Mount the Pi



Step 3: Mount the USB Hub (as you can see, the holes in the midplate will also allow for a lot of routing of wires such as the ethernet cable for example)



Step 4: Make an artistic pile of your cladding for no reason at all



Step 5: Start putting the cladding elements on the sides by attaching them to the magnets



Step 6: Show of your PiQu!!



And in its final position! (as long as the missus isnt moving it). For the record its not hooked up yet as I've not yet put an OS on the card XD



Just to show some of the possibilities this system gives a few images with different configurations, allowing access to different ports. As its a cube and all sides have the cladding, it can actually rest on any of the sides as well!

First one with option to connect 3 USB devices



Second one to allow access to a USB port and the HDMI



Reason for having such a big area above the USB hub: the WiFi dongle!



And finally, just to be sure, a picture with a size indication...barely managed to keep it within the 15cm limit, but I made it!

this is really awesome. i love how versatile this case is. of all the pi projects ive seen, this is by far my favorite.
