From the Hasbro Risk site. Is it me or are they trying a bit to hard win back the younger board gamer?? Linkage looked for the .co.uk version but no joy, hoped that would have been an amusing received English opposite, but no joy.
Airfields? Cards? Stars? Objectives? Wow, Risk has changed since the days I used to play it, dude. This new version must be, like, totally rad, man. ...or something.
basically to many people have complained about the 6-8+hr games. where the fun in playing it sleep deprived
I hated Risk, I had a friend who was stupidly good at it and would beat us all, no fun in losing a game of luck constantly He was obviously a man-devil
god, it seems risk is totally tubular to the max. myself? i could never get into it. the period where i was most likely to play it was spent with warhammer 40k, space hulk and hero quest, if i remember rightly.
What are stars?? i dont remeber them in my game. We played it a lot, was mainly the christmas evening game between me my 2 brother and mum and dad. The good old days before we all moved out
Yeah, "Black Ops" mode sounds interesting! I'd buy it if i thought i could persuade anyone to play it with me (i still have the "original"), I’ll have to make do with destroying my 6 year old niece at Downfall. I loved Space Quest! My parents still have it at theirs, had a mate who had Hero Quest, hours and hours of fun playing those games. Ah, those where the days!! Commodore 16 or Board Game, the latter was always quicker to get playing on!
Hero Quest was great, I had a copy of Dragon Quest (the one where you pull random tiles to make the gameboard as you play) which was awesome
Lord, that whole mess is doubleplusungood! I never liked Risk. I don't think I have the necessary frame of mind to understand all the military tactics. -monkey
That really is the best starting point. It also helps to be a lucky roller. I love playing risk, but I don't get to play it that often.
I loved Risk, as long as we were playing the modified rules we had come up with. But that of course was back in the day when we could devote a few hours a day to a single game, not so easy to get that time anymore. But we also really oved Axis & Allies, which is what that new Risk is sounding like it wants to be.
i bloody hated risk... not so much the game itself, but my friends who are such lucky sods that they can pull of 1:6 ratios consistently... i don't know how many times i've smashed HUGE armies (15 strong or so) against territories that were guarded by 2... and lost. Not cool. Same with Monopoly, where they occupy ALL the good streets by turn 6 or so, and all i land on either belongs to them or is CRUD. My complete lack of luck doesn't help, i suppose
