Good to hear, I have a Disney subscription, and have only watched SW content so far...

 

I've heard Wandavision directly tees up the entire "Phase 4" of the MCU movie series, by leading directly to Dr Strange 2.

 

Hang on, you cooked a mixed grill for Dave Bautista? This story warrants more.

 

Yeah, that and Spiderman 3 which is introducing the Multiverse (hence Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their iterations of Spidermen plus Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx) which Elizabeth Olsen has signed on for too...

 

Greenland 6/10

As far as disaster movies go it's not bad at all considering its paltry budget compared to other VFX-laden blockbusters of the same genre. Butler is much like he is in any of his films - wooden - but Baccarin can really act and brings the reality of the drama to the viewer. Most of the material is rehashed and given a slight twist here and there, but there are some fantastic sequences throughout. Nae bad!

 

This seems like the right place to post:

Not really a watching of, but finding out a couple of new things about the film Alien, specifically the character Lambert. First fact: she's trangender. Second fact: her death is thought to be, well, a lot worse than just your run of the mill dismemberment. Not going to lie, the second fact has me a little rattled, even if it is just fiction. The sounds of her dying become a hell of a lot more disturbing.

 

@Pete J, Lambert being a trans character (Dallas too) has been known for years, and for some reason it has become a talking point again in the last week or so. Also the rape thing (not really a spoiler as it's speculation) is an interesting one. You know the scene with the tail going between the legs? That's actually part of Brett's death sequence, and it's been spliced by the editor into Lambert's death sequence. How do we know this? Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that these are not Lambert's feet -- she was wearing boots, and those are Brett's shoes:


There is additional footage that shows Lambert's bloodied, naked legs hanging from a vent or shaft, which some viewers prefer to interpret as tentacle porn. I'd be inclined not to draw that conclusion as I see no reason to sexualise the horror.

 

I watched it the other day on Netflix too, quite enjoyed it. Not a drawn out story, just bang into it and done.

My guess would be he was a chef in Harvester, Dave went in for food, ordered a mixed grill and he cooked it. Dave then moaned about it not being big enough and ate salad.

 

I consider myself an Alien fan but never knew those details re Dallas and Lambert (I haven't travelled down the AVP forum rabbit hole). I HAVE been to Gigers museum twice though - that was an education and after speaking with the man the first time around (he had had his accident and died by the time of the second visit), I realised I was a fan of the actual design process rather than the finished product. This was then realised in Alien: Isolation in the best way possible and probably my favourite movie tie-in product (along with Riddick and the first AvP game in 1999 for sheer terror)!

Low rent end of the world disaster movie, only partially redeemed by having Scott Glenn in it.

Birds of Prey 5/10
Would have scored 0/10 if not for the totty and most excellent soundtrack

 

Watched all three taken movies over the weekend. Enjoyed all of them.

 

Bigfoot Vs. The Illuminati: words fail/10

This was a TRIP. Found it for free on Tubi, did not disappoint. Nobody took it seriously, and it's hilarious as a result. It's a farce that knows it's a farce and revels in it.

Next stop is Trump Vs. The Illuminati. No lie, same folks.

 

Trump vs. the Illuminati: head asplode/10

This was crazier than the last one. Animators deserve a serious raise, models looked good and the motion was smooth when Trump served the Illuminati with some sweet dance moves.

Ended on a cliffhanger. A really odd cliffhanger. Waiting for part two.

These are low-budget parodies and last a little over an hour each. They're hilarious, if you overlook reused animations and if you like to hear people go ham on terrible writing that knows it's terrible. I've been laid up in bed waiting on my new leg brace and they've been great at wasting time. Tubi has them both for free.

 

King Rocker - aging comedian Stewart Lee takes aging punk Robert Lloyd for a trip down memory lane in this feature length doc. Lee's sense of comic timing and narrative manages to hold a series of talking heads together. I quite enjoyed it despite knowing nothing about The Nightingales or The Prefects.
