The complete pack is usually a fiver if you can wait for the summer sale.

There's isn't any game in the collection that isn't worth playing, I probably put most time into SA due to the size, but get some mods on GTA4 and it's like a whole new game.

GTA's are parodies of gangsta films, watch them. To get the most out of the games, watch many of the films first.

My fave by a mile and a half was GTA3. Couldn't believe the freedom that game offered when I first played it like xmas 2001 (iirc) on my mates PS2. Amazing game.

Vice City had a real unique feel and character to it, loved the city and the radio songs etc.

Hated SA, though, missions too samey and the game world was too big in my opinion -lost it's sense of character.

GTA4 was a mixed bag also. Missions too mundane and dummed down, and you didn't get the same feeling which captured some of the previous games, at least I didn't. It also wasn't as serious as 3 or VC, which I think spoils it a little.

game ratings are ridiculous. I was exposed to 18s from like 13 yrs old (played at friend's house) he turned out fine, I turned out fine

There are certain people with obviously different chemical makeups, who are affected by these violent games different. I will admit, some of the people I used to know, got exposed to GTA in primary school, and they turned out to be violent d*ckheads, but they also grew up in poor hoseholds and lacked and educational support or parental role models.

All of the 3D GTAs are worth playing for their atmosphere and story, but i found that IV had very little replay value for me. While i clocked at least 1000 hours into VC and SA, i spent maybe 100 playing IV and the DLC episodes. The story lasts about 30 hours plus another ten for each episode and they're really great games but i just don't feel any desire to go back to them. Maybe i'm just getting old.

Historically the whole GTA bundle has been as cheap as £5 in a few steam sales and random mid week offers. Worth holding out for a discount.

GTA Vice City for me, playing that with the 80's feel and the radio stations. Then it would be GTA III due to more awesomeness.

GTA SA was awesome once you completed it and could tear around in a Harrier and shoot ALL THE THINGS!!! Then GTA4, pretty fun on multiplayer but I found the single player lacking in depth.

i like them all, of course. but original poster, what are the computer in question's specifications? GTA IV/San Andreas/EFLC/III/Vice City all had stringent requirements. No need to recommend a game when you cannot play if the computer isn't up to snuff...

I love the Gta game series, along with the Elder Scrolls/Fallout's, they are worth the money due to the amount of hours you get out of them,

My personal favourite is San Andreas, but Vice City and 4/EFLC were good aswell, im really looking forward to GTA V.

Vice City was my favourite of the lot. 1 and 2 I enjoyed back on PS1 when I was 9 or 10 (I think). San Andreas was good, but as mentioned, too big really and the ending was utter garbage in my opinion. I played IV on PS3 but never managed to finish it (my PS3 decided to die, multiple times so I gave up.)

I would say start with GTA III, I think it's the best mainly cause it's got a lot of neat stuff to it. So many things I loved about that game. Not to mention a plane you can fly that doesn't really fly lol. But play them all in order just for the hell of it. You will probably beat them all before GTA V comes out. But when you get to GTA IV I suggest getting the iCEnhancer Mod/Photo Realism Mod.

Watch in 1080p, might take awhile to load.

Vice is a popular favourite, maybe because it captured the 80s so well (plus it was a great game).

Think 4 is my favourite if not only for euphoria physics and ENB series on PC <3

Vice City was the one that got me properly into the series. The steam pack is good value whenever, but I have seen that GTA pack, icluding 4 + expansions, for £5.00 during a steam sale. I am pretty sure it is a regular during the sales, but depends if you are willing to wait for it.

San Andreas was the best in my opinion. Jetpacks, planes, choppers, a HARRIER! huge map with rural areas as well as the usual urban areas, and it even had those suburban attacks too. Not only was the gameplay the best, but I also liked the feel of progression. He starts by getting out of prison, but he is still in a rough part of town. Then he gradually moves outwards and eventually there mansions on the hills and stuff that you can look forward to owning. Best GTA by miles in my book.

GTA 4 I thought was hopeless. But the exception was Ballad of Gay Tony which someone mentioned on the previous page. That was brilliant. Fun missions that involved sky diving and stuff, not just the usual driving from A to B, and the script was fab.

Looking forward to see what they come up with in 5.

I really enjoyed SA, I spent hours clearing out every single territory at the start (apart from one really annoying tiny bit I couldn't take over cos there weren't any rival gang members left to take out of it :grr:) only to have it all taken away... Still an awesome game though, only reason I never finished it was cos the helicopter handled like dung on kbm and I could never get my licence for it.
