Well, it's getting to that time again where I cannot upgrade my current system anymore and I need to start fresh.

I have been pricing up a system on ebuyer to include a TFT (still using a good old 17" Dell CRT atm). I dont particularily have a budget, but I don't want anything too OTT, just something that will run any game on the market (including Supreme Commander) on full without any problems.

Heres what I have so far:

    EDIT: New Quote (See Below)

I will be pulling my SB Audigy 4 from my current PC for sound.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be great.

    Cheers

Besides the power supply it looks pretty solid, not sure about the PSU, but that's not something I know much about. You could try dropping down the ram a bit and getting a higher end motherboard, like one with SLI capabilities or even just a nicer P965(P5B-E/Deluxe).

    Do you need a raptor?
A 16meg cashe enabled HDD will match it in terms of sustained rates. Also do you need a 640mb version of the 8800GTS? the 320meg version is the sweet spot. Save money in those area's and spend more on a PSU and/or case.

PSU wise i would rate Seasonic, Tagan and Corsair.

I was going to run 2 raptors in RAID0, but I guess you will say thats OTT :p

As for the GTS, I was under the impression people generally didn't rate the 320mb versions, or maybe I misread something.

Any thoughts on this board instead of the standard P5B?

Aye thats a good board, tho it depends what your looking for in features, personally the P5B would have been fine. Tho this is a different kettle of fish tho very good.

    Google some reviews.

The 320meg GTS is where its at, at the moment as its the best price vs performance GPU avail, alot of vairous models can be had under £190.

yeah, the 320 performs well, but you wont run max settings on 22" with it...not enough ram...for the extra $35 usd its well worth it imho to grab the 640 mb version. and dont pay extra for oc'ed versions. just oc it urself. those things are clocking very well...that psu is the only seasonic that did not test well on a very thorough review i read from a review linked by this site. id grab the 520 corsair. cause if you ever do go sli, that 430 watt wont be enough. hell, the 520 may not either.

Thanks, I suppose for an extra £30 I am getting a big performance jump between the 320mb and 640mb cards. And your right, if i'm getting an SLI board, I might as well have a bit more power ready for 2 cards.

Yeh, a lot of the normal drives are out of stock on ebuyer. That samsung drive gets pretty good reviews so i'll go with that. Bear in mind I am pulling (what will be) a spare 250gb out of my current rig as well so will have 750gb :D

Sounds sweet...The 640mb edition wont make any visual difference over the 320mb edition at 1680x1050 resolutions. It will only make a difference on 24" monitors and above. You'll see barely any difference with the 640 card.

thats incorrect...not sure why people keep saying that...there is plenty difference on a few games, especially when you up the settings. and most importantly its a big improvement on one of the best games they use (CoH).. which brings up a good point...dont trust everything you hear on here as the bible, take our advice, then research it...
