So as you can see in my sig, I have a Phenom X3 8650 and well its starting to strugle rather alot. I have decided to upgrade with the koney i have gained from christmas and some of my jobseekers I need to get: CPU Motherboard RAM the graphics card will be updated at a later date as its not doing too bad, just runs a little hot is all. My max budget is £330 but obviously I'd like to spend less, what would you guys/girls reccomend to buy?

No problem, for price/performance AMD cant be beaten IMO, intel although I would love to go that route is an expensive one, plus if you do stick AMD, go phenom II X3, unlock extra core and overclocking is made easy with the UEFI BIOS on my Asus motherboard.
Out of interest is that CPU you have the 960T? as i could go for that as i see you have a decent OC on it + unlocked it to a six core
£160 for 2500k £100 for motherboard £40 for 8GB of RAM Otherwise pick up a phenom quad 9XX cores. About £60 would be a fair price. And possibly upgrade your RAM while you at it.
For £89 new you can get a 960t, I got mine unlocked to x6 and increased to 3.8Ghz on stock vcore, in cinebench it owns an i7 960 which is a £200 chip lol, performs unreal on games, plays crysis for example on high with no problems.
960T, Phantek dual tower heatsink in whatever colour you want, Crosshair IV and 8GBs of Ripjaws 1600Mhz and off you go
AoE, dont be afraid to dream a little bigger 960T is a beaut of a chip i wouldnt give bulldozer a look at the moment after WindWithMe's review http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=223083 id say get an AM3+ capable board so you have an upgrade path though the black CPU socket denotes AM3+ capable on boards so its a nice giveaway. Ram im happy to admit i have no idea i lost all concept of the stuff after the original DDR days!
I know I offered the OP, my brand new asus M5A99X EVO AM3+ board and 2GB DDR3 1333 Ram for £75inc special del, plus a gtx 550 ti only three months old all in for £145inc.
These new phenoms overclock a darn slight better than my old 1050T hexcore. Still, I'd go 1155 for the upgrade path to ivy bridge(unless AMD's next generation of bulldozer actually works as advertised)
Absolutely don't go with the Bulldozer chips, they're pathetic. Even the flagship 8150 won't beat an i5 2500k for gaming or everyday computing. Speaking of the i5 2500k, that's my recommendation, that with a Z86 motherboard so you can upgrade to ivy bridge later.

thanks for the suggestion but if I was to choose another motherboard it would have to be M-ATX as im going to be putting it in a FT-03, and preferably not gigabyte as my current board is a gigabyte and its given me no end of hassle. Plus i'd like to get a board that supports Ivy Bridge (when it arrives)
Fair enough. You'd only save about £30 rather than £60 by getting an cheaper MATX board and I'm guessing you want the red styling of the ASUS? All 1155 socket motherboards will support ivy bridge so that's not a worry.
