Thats why reason why I would upgrade to the new model for the bigger remote and also the ability to control it via an Android App.

Well, as a surprise turn update for me, WD finally contacted me the other day, after I complained about their lack of response, and they sending me out a replacement unit. However this is one of the newer models, not a TV live.

We'll see if they have ironed out the bugs in this, and if it therefore works when it arrives.

I have just seen the WDTV live at 59.99 in my local Tesco

I also have a Sumvision Cyclone Primus which throws pretty much everything at it I can, plus can have a SATA HD inside it

Is the WDTV Live only a USB?
Any iPlayer or anything like that?

WDTV Live is usb, wired and wireless Ethernet :) (built in wireless is only new model, the one with the larger remote)

Another update from me, WD have sent me a replacement Live Streaming unit in place of my older Live.
Not had time to fully use it yet, but so far it looks promising.

So far so good. I've not use it massively as I had lost faith, but the tests I have done so far have all worked.

I have the WDTV Live Hub coming for xmas. If i got WDTV Live box for another room, can i stream video from my WDTV live hub and pick it up on the WDTV live?

My WDTV Live has served faithfully for years without missing a beat. I have the early one so don't get things like iPlayer or NetFlix. Is there a way to get these (I believe not, even with homebrew firmware) but I thought I'd ask.

And, what are your recommendations for making the UI a bit better - cover art flow for example?

Thanks Kosch, but I'm a bit noobish with this kind of thing. Is there a simple guide to making things better or would someone in my position be better just buying the new one (or just leaving mine be)?

I'm a little disappointed with the iplayer and netflix playback on the WDTV tbh. It works (usually), but it's far inferior to that of the PS3 or Xbox app, or my YouView box's iplayer app.
