Hey guys, someone do me a favor. Hit my site and tell me if the photo's show up for you. Doesn't matter which link off my home page, most of them have pictures. I've not had any of the FF3 rc's or final show any pictures for me. Works with IE and Safari, just not FF3. http://web.mac.com/barrywoods/
It doesn't show up FF3. Oh boy... I am angry and frustrated. Sorry in advance to be mean.. but the truth must be said. Your code is wrong. Why use Java-script?! Just use CSS! Arrr.. this site has double the code needed. DO NOT USE AN HTML/CSS EDITOR! They all suck! Moreover, your code is so ridiculously heavy, it takes way too much time to show for such a page. Even Adobe crazy website loads faster than yours once downloaded. Also, it won't surprise me if it doesn't work with Opera... and when it doesn't work with Opera: you have a problem with coding properly as it follow web standards strictly. Anyway, let me try and help: Read this: http://www.w3.org/ and this: http://www.w3schools.com/ use this: http://validator.w3.org/ And start coding with notepad, or any editor that give you color coding, if that helps. Do not use programs to make website visually (or if your program has color coding, don't use the visual editor EVER!) And remove "Made on a Mac". Not only its not professional, but Apple doesn't pay you for advertising. Apple is big boy now, making a huge amount of profit on you, they don't need such support! Either way... if you want to support Apple, you REALLY should remove this... as the condition of your site is very bad . Let me calm down a bit for a few hours, and I'll redo one of your pages. I'll try to keep the code simple with not fancy stuff so that you can understand. Once you assimilated this, you can have fun with more complex stuff like: http://sixrevisions.com/css/30_css_techniques_examples Edit: I hope you will use my page sample for educational purposes and not just copy and paste... I will be taking some time to make it and for free, and I would appreciate if you learn from it.
It does say made on a mac at the bottom. The only thing I can suggest to you is to read up on html and css, the w3schools links goodbytes gave is brilliant for that, and just have a shot at making it yourself from scratch. On all the image tags Code: <img src="More_Drive_Destruction_files/shapeimage_1.jpg" alt="" style="height: 1px; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 630px; " /> That for example, try to remove the close tag, so at the end its > rather than />, yes its not up to standards but it should work.
The coding isn't mine. I use iWeb for everything. Don't know a lick of html.... Okay, found a fix for the java script the creates the code. We'll see if that fixes it. I did pull the made on a mac button though. Left the hit counters though. I find it fascinating how many people look at the site. For the most part I really don't promote the thing that much. It's really just to show off some of the stuff I've hacked together to friends in other states. It probably won't matter anymore anyway as Apple is rolling out the mobile me stuff next month. Hopefully that will update the apps the do this stuff.
I had another look at mine, like you no recently bookmarked pages. Really weird... Anyway, I deleted the lot in Bookmarks/Organise and imported a FF2 automatic backup from 2 days ago. Now looking normal. FF3 doesn't use bookmarks.html, it's now places.sqlite
QFT. 10 minutes on W3schools and you could have yourself a pretty basic but nice looking, built from scratch page.
Works fine for me. The slide show of making your new computer room is cool. Looks like a lot of space. John
FF3 works fine here AND I like the new look -->barry99705 Can't help but notice the similarity between your sites title and my sig....
it's extremely laggy on websites who have a background. My CPU works at between 60 and 70% just to look at the damn page, I am not even scrolling or anything here's a good (temporary) example http://www.joblo.com
Don't see it.. however when I allow all the flash content on that site to run it does start taking up CPU cycles, exactly the reason I have the Flashblock installed.
Ditto on the flash being crazy. HTML took me all of a day to learn - iWeb is a fun way to start, but it puts a lot of bulky code in and most of it is antiquated, for example the CSS vs. Javascript. Oh, so on my Mac I have Safari and Firefox 3, does anyone know a way to sync the bookmarks between the two?
I am assuming its at my end but since installation all ive had is problems. I've had it crash 4/5 times.
I am using firefox 3 since the beta version and i find it a bit faster than the previous versions!!plus the new option are very helpful..
