6700gt (mobile) -yes i did go down the desktop replacement route for abit, before seeing the error of my ways.

    8800GTS (320)
    4850
    8800GT (512) TOP
    XFX 285GTX XXX edition

I was waiting for the 470GTX but after seeing how much of a let down that turned out to be, i think i'll stick to my 285. Or get a second... Any thoughts?

Just had a thoiught; how hard would it be to convert a corsair H50 with a 285 water block to make a self contained GPU water cooling setup?

A piece of cardboard and a pen :)

Must've been a Riva TNT that I bought along with my first very own computer. At that time it meant a lot to me that I could play mp3's without the computer coming to a halt seeing as I came from a 80486 to a 400MHz AMD thingie.

I think I had an ati 2500 in my dell... but for the first card I actually knew was good was my 3870x2 lol what a waste of money... Wished I had saved it for a 4000/5000 series.

ATI X1950XTX (what a daft name).

It was (still is) a beast though, I gave it to my brother who is making good use of it.

Voodoo 2 and then went on to Riva TNT 2

Ah. I remember playing Turok, Dark Forces 2 and Quake 1 & 2, which was snazzy and cool in my town lol [And ridiculously expensive - Yay for a father which had connections back in the day ]

Oh let us not forget HoMM 2 and 3!! :D

I had a 1 MB VESA Local Bus card with a 12 MB Voodoo 2 accelerator and added a second accelerator for SLI later on as my first gaming combination but the first full gaming GPU I bought was a Hercules 3D Prophet 2 Titanium which is still running in a spare system.

I had a 512kb dedicated graphics board for my 486 but i cannot for the life of me remember what it was called playing 7th guest and full throttle Knights of Xentar a the good old days.

Then i have a 4mb Nvidia 4mb Ati Rage (got the 8mb ver from a friend with tv out ooo the posiblitys but never really used it) the problem was i couldnt play StarTrek Armarda properly so i went to a Creative TNT2 32mbs. I got out of the pc thing for a bit Got a laptop with Ati 9000 mobility 64mb dedicated it played Dawn of War really well.

then the PC thing really came back hard and i lost more money on it than i care to remember at least 200 quid a peace on a x1900xt (very short lived dam crysis), 8800gtx (best hardware i ever bought)& gtx280oc (most twitchy hardware i ever bought i even got new cooler for it)

So many old game that could do with new remakes Roll Cage, Forsaken (still the most fun deathmatches of all time), Recoil. (Im getting diablo and starcraft so it could happen)

My first PC didn't have a discrete graphics card, EGA based output on the mainboard....
    Don't remember the first card...something S3 Virge based I believe.(Hmmm, it's still in the garage...somewhere)
The first "Gaming" GPU (device called a GPU) GeForce256 DDR
    Then a GeForce 4 Ti 4200
Then a Radeon X800XT (which died quickly and was RMA'd for a) X1800XT
Which is still in may sig.

Replacement due this year though...probably a 5780 (considering the Fermi desaster)

I believe they were the first to call it that yes :D
"Graphics Cards" existed long before though.

I'm amazed there are so little Geforce1 (Geforce 256) memories here, it beat everything on the market with a stick and then some back then.
(then again, only the "DDR" variant did, which was twice as expensive as everything else as well)
Played Half Live (1) in 3D with Shutterglasses @120Hz with that one :jawdrop:

    Yay, and me!

Prior to which I wasted money on a Matrox Mystique. It was touted as a 3d card but never got any support from developers, hence my switch to 3DFX.

I feel like a noob, I only started fiddling with computers about three or four years ago...
I had an integrated Nvidia 6150LE chipset, pile of rubbish that was.
Then it was an 8600GT which was the best I could afford at the time. :/
Then a 4670, which I loved to bits for its low power consumption.
Then onto the 4870 which I have currently which is the exact opposite of the 4670 in terms of power consumption :p
