Can the Xbox 360 Slim solve the noise and heat issues that plagued the original model? http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/xbox-360/2010/07/16/xbox-360-slim-review/1
You can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter.. There's a slogan for the Microsoft marketing department.
Considering trading in my elite when Kinect comes out for one of these bundled with it. Otherwise, not sure why I would bother. Unless i actually start using the hard disk...
Well, at least they don't keep stripping away features like Sony. *hugs 60gb launch model PS3* (well, 500gb now )
So the DVD drive still sounds like a leaf blower? That was the loudest part - the fans weren't really a problem.
Yup, it's really disappointing. During E3 Microsoft constantly boasted about how 'whisper quiet' the new 360 Slim was and I was actually quite looking forward to replacing my launch 360. What they failed to mention, however, is that it's only 'whisper quite' when the game is installed to the HDD...
Wrong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBj6PonX14A wrongness proved at about 9mins in PS. I guess this revision is because they wont be releasing next gen for quite a while.
Really? There was me thinking that the Elites came with a 120GB drive, and the few-and-far-between Super Elites (think the FF XIII bundle) had the 250GB drives.
Microsoft confirmed that this new 360 will never RROD... ... but only because they removed it as an error message completely, as it was mentally scarring (to who I dont know - maybe Microsoft call centre staff)
I was just about to make that same comment. I never heard the cooling fans of my 360 over the wailing of the dvd drive. I would have thought they would have addressed this issue, but they clearly haven't.
I'll just confirm that the elite models only come with a 120GB HDD, it is teh "suepr elite" that have 250GB
I ripped mine (old style) 360 apart and fitted it into a Lian Li Case; fans no longer an issue but my god does that DVD drive make a racket.
Btw, to anyone who buys one of these: Heed the warning sticker that says 'Don't move the Xbox while it's on.' Look for the ring shaped mark near the edge. It's not really visible on my phone camera but it's really visible in all light in the flesh. Look near the rainbows.
I'd become frustrated and bored with the 360 by the time they introduced hard drive installation, dumped it before it had chance to break again.
If I had a 250GB HDD with my XBOX I wouldn't think twice about installing all my games on the HDD to reduce loading times as well as the constant annoying whirr of the disc drive. Why didn't bit-tech try some tests with the games loaded on the HDD?
