Once this is done, I will be making five new lightsabers.
Four for my four Nephews (For halloween)
And one new one for me.

Then Build my wife a new PC (Easy stuff, nothing too special)
After that I will try to finish all the plexi work on the Media PC.
Then I have the chess project to finish hopefully before Christmas.
After that? A whole new year of totaly new modding.

Not yet, I will post images soon.
Now that I have four weeks left till the next LAN I am going to build a little more structured inside casing to hold the parts.

Also since I need to leave room for a full size AGP Card (With riser) I am going to have to buy a notebook harddrive to run in this system.
I am currently pricing 20gb drives

Thanks for the link I always like to know where I have been posted.

Last night I worked on what was going to be a totaly new unique fan modification. But the results are not as good I would have liked.
But I will still create the effect I am going after by other means.
(Images and more on this later)

Cool, my PC is pictured on the AMDZone.Com LAN Party Page:
    http://www.amdzone.com/lanparty.cfm
(There is also a image of me holding the motherboard I won)

Tonight I am getting some sheet metal to create a more permanent mounting for all the parts.

Zap: I have one question for you and it`s about: Playing music in your case when you carry it to a LAN.

Have you any ideas how to do that mod?

    If so, please tell me!!!:dremel:

You could hack a "yack-back" or some other toy recorder/player and make it loop a playback.

But I am not doing that on this PC.

ok. I will try it since I got a big server tower and got loads of space in it!

I`m about starting a project log on this case,so I will need your opinion on this later in the modd.

Could try a CD-player/MP3 player and some battery powered speakers.

Quakecon is only a few weeks off, and I won't have the pc done to 100% of my liking.
That and I need to get school going again.
    (Should be my last semester)

    Either way,
I am planning on taking to to CPL and QuakeCon next year.
There is also a huge LAN here in Austin in october.
So I hope to have it done all but the LCD by then.

I will also have some more images up of misc stuff in a few minutes.

Ok this is more of an attempted mod:

While trying to figure out how I was going to light the 60mm fan on the front of the case I went through several ideas.

What I wanted was an atomic logo drawn BY the fan.

I at first thought of mounting LED's into the fan, and doing it electronicly. But this would be too hard to keep in sync.
(I also thought of an atomic shapped electrical connector, and this could still be an option)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I decided on using fiber optics, in a similar fashion to the bit-tech guide here:
    http://www.bit-tech.net/article/73/

But instead of haveing the fan lit totaly up, I wanted only the parts of the atomic logo to light.

(I bought the fiber optics years ago from who-knows-where)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I cut and bent equal pieces of fiber.
The light-in side was flame polished, and the light out side was sanded down.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then hot-glued each fiber onto the fan.
But i didn't do like the guide, and place each fiber to the center.
Instead I layed them out in a spiral fasion.
This "should" have allowed the inside fiber to draw the inside part of the image, and the outside fiber to draw the outside of the image.

I took a few measures to balance the weight of the fan back out, but it is already a fairly slow fan, and it doesn't rattle much from the odd-placed weight.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the front the fibers are bairly visible.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then needed to make a projector of sorts.
A wire spool, plastic, and electrical tape works for this.
The LED has to be about 2 inches back from the front inorder to create a sharp image.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see it makes a pretty good projector.
(I may use this later to project an atomic logo on to the ceiling of LAN parties)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But alas... the attempted super mod fails.
With the fibers taking light from right near the end of the projector, all the light just blurres out, and no image is produced.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But the mod was not a total failure.
If I move the projector back farther the image is sharply produced on the fan.
The fibers have little function in this case though, and only catch the light a little)

The effect is just how I want it, but this technique takes up a lot of room behind the fan.
(But also any image could be projected)

So what will I do to light the fan?
I have found I can achive the same effect by using three LEDs at the right angles.
The fibers still have to be in place (Just on the edges of the blades)
Since the light is coming from behind the fan, a painted fan would not have the same effect.
I am currently working on this and will have it posted soon.

I love the projector idea, and now I am thinking of using a white LED combined with a color image on a clear piece of plastic, like an overhead projector sheet. That would rock. Thanks for the jumpstart!

I am not sure where you are going wit the fan though...I just don't grasp how the moving fibre is going to create a static image. Looking forward to seeing the finished item.
