That's.... disappointing. I was looking forward to getting this just after Christmas, may wait until it drops in price instead.

Yeah, it's a real shame. The one thing that stood out so well with the AC series was the sp story and now they're putting out one game a year it shows they're not spending the time on it that it deserves.

That said, here's a video of the multiplayer Assassinate mode I recorded on 360. I'm nowhere near as stealthy now because of the reverse detection meter. For those unaware, now you start at discreet and it builds up as long as you don't do any high profile actions. So, in Assassinate that means late locking will now get you discreet/reckless kills for fewer points, but locking early will get a smokebomb thrown at you (probably from a distance) while they run over and look for the giant stun button above your head. So I don't bother going for incogs. Just as many damn kills as I can! (and yes, I really screw up the second half of this match, it's because I saw I had a good lead).

Sorry, only just seen this (got no computers any more so I'm not around quite as much).

Well I'd say the RDR (Reverse Detection Meter) has brought in MORE runners. Because running around getting a large amount of low scoring kills will often win you the game over someone getting a few incognito kills. The meter fills up slower if you're on the roof, but as I say, get 24 discreet/reckless kills and you're still going to beat someone with like 8 incognitos. It completely doesn't fit my playstyle (cutting people off, being in a blend group as they turn a corner, etc.) and as you can now throw smokebombs quite some distance, there's more offensive smoke bombing to try and build the meter up. You can also see if someone has resistance on (or any of the new abilities that change how long they're incapacitated) as there's a massive symbol that shows up over their heads. I don't even use resistance now, it used to be fun stunning someone trying to focus me, but now they see the symbol and kill you immediately.

The new Free For All modes are gash as well. I hate them. Deathmatch (like Wanted, but with no clones unless you use blender/morph and super tiny map), for me, is always everyone camped on a roof surrounded by tripwire bombs. There's no stealth at all. Corruption (kind of like tag I guess) is just a game of corrupted people running around like crazy. Steal the Artefact is all about running across the rooftops whenever you have the artefact even though you'd actually get more points for hiding.

The new team mode, Artefact Assault, actually is fun. That's like capture the flag. I quite enjoy playing around with ideas there. Only downside though, you cannot play in teams with friends any more. I understand what they were trying to do. Team-stacking was a major problem in Brotherhood, but this doesn't work.

Also whatever algorithm they're using for matchmaking... is BROKEN. Whenever I prestige (not real prestige, you don't start again, just get a number in a star) I end up in games with level 1s. That and getting into FFA games with a group doesn't work. You sit there forever waiting. You can only get into games with each other by joining on people. It will also put you into any mode it feels like if it can't find what you want to play. This is even more annoying because you now can't leave the lobby until you've started the game. Then at the end of the game you get to vote on what mode to play next... which is stupid. If I want to play Assassinate, I want to play Assassinate. Not the last 30s of an Assassinate match it puts me into and then Corruption.

The other major change is if you try to stun your pursuer now you get an honourable death and 100pts for it. They get a contested kill (100pts) and can't get any bonuses. Then they walk around dazed for a bit with ringing in their ears. In Escort this is completely ridiculous. On the VIP protection round you can only get 100pt kills ANYWAY. So if they make sure they're mashing stun every time you kill them, you effectively don't score anything that round. You can't contest a gun kill or roofing though. So you can see where that leads (although Escort always was the ONLY mode where the gun made sense).

Smaller changes are the taunts, completely stupid and anyone who taunts me after they stun/kill me gets put into the douche-bag pile. However, it's quite funny in AA when people stand on the line and taunt for fun (unless they cross the line you can't kill them). You can also customize the characters more this time. It's still limited though. Almost all the personas have green clothing you CANNOT change. No idea why. Maybe they're elves. You also get to choose your weapons, but unless you use the gold coloured ones (and get discreet/reckless kills from the front or back) all the weapon style kills are the exact same for every persona. You have to buy the weapons and customizations (clothing and abilities) using Abstergo Credits. You're awarded those for coming in 1st/2nd/3rd, getting awards, levelling up, etc. They go so fast though. Crafting abilities is 80 credits every time. You also can't have differently crafted abilities for each profile set. So, where I used to have strong smoke in one and long lasting in another, now my smoke is the same in whichever set I use it.

The only thing that I like more is that when your inconsiderate team mate shuts a chase breaker gate in front of you, now they automatically open to let you through! Ground finishes are pretty stupid (kicking your dead target in the head for 50pts), but I have to admit it's quite good fun XD

TL;DR: AC:R is a silly game and they didn't really improve anything.

I disagree with some views about this game, I've just played the entire campaign and I thought it was perfectly in sync with the past games and a very intriguing narrative. The ending was also good as it left me wanting more from it, cant wait for the sequel......now that Desmond knows other secrets

got the game a week ago, played a few MP sessions. any other PC players on here for some friendly games? (or just make my friends list less lonely)

so far, everyone seems to be behaving for the first half of the game, whether Deathmatch or Wanted. the newer maps are designed to be less roof-top friendly, and more wall cover on a plane. they are great for deceptive gameplay.

i said first half because i usually end up number one with no death and high score, people becomes fed up and started running around like headless chickens. they will either run into me and get killed, or kill me for 100 points. it's a shame most can't keep their composure.

honourable death is pretty good IMO, at very least i will get some points when failed to naked stun. problem at the moment for me is that i haven't unlocked smoke bombs or mute, so can't really do any fancy moves, and when at top of scoreboard, it becomes really hard staying alive, so at least this gives me 100 points.

haven't played much team games yet, since that is more combat than deception.

I'm sad to see the AC series turning into the next "Call of Duty" fiasco...so to speak. 10-12 months is not enough time to come out with a new game of polished content worth the $60 pricetag. Judging from the discussions above, this game was rushed. I am all for a company profiting from putting out a good product....but now it seems to me that Ubisoft is just milking the cashcow and I don't want any part of it.

seeing BF3 patch didn't go so well, i'll just bump this thread to try to get as many Bittechers on this as possible.

Revelations multiplayer is fantastic, the new maps of revelations are mostly free of roof tops, forcing the player into the crowd and be stealthy. the way Assassin's Creed is supposed to be played. with reversed stealth meter (used to start with incognito, now have to build it up) there is even more emphasise on being stealthy.

i mostly play Deathmatch because map is more restricted into the part of map with no roof tops.

everyone add me (wuyanxu2000) :D i'd love to get some teamwork going for Artifact Assault (aka CTF).
