    Hi,

Could someone please recommend me a good backlit/illuminated keyboard? I'd prefer one with low, laptop-like keys for comfortable typing. Budget would be ~40 quid, though cheaper is definitely preferred. USB ports in the keyboard are a plus, though I don't care either way about macro keys. Corded preferred, though I don't mind cordless.

A huge plus would be a proper touchpad built in, though I doubt if there are any such keyboards available.

    Thanks.

I don't know what the hell a quid is but I would recomend a Logitech G13 or a G15 if you want to get something really nice.

The keyboard itself is more like a standard desktop size/shape. But it is corded USB. Along with two USB ports on the keyboard itself. Also it has macro keys. Oh yea, backlit as well :p

Logitech Illuminated keyboard. Great keyboard. I have it, and I love. It really adds professionalism to a desk. White backlit LED is true white, if you wonder.

    Saitek Eclipse II (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118274)

Thats the one i have, and you have a choice of 3 backlight colours built in (Red, blue and purple?!). It's usb corded, the palm rest is remove-able and you can control the brightness of the backlight.

I would definitely recommend this (the logitech G15 looks hideous!!)

    Logitech G15

I have the logitech G15 (v2 version which is not as wide so it fits in a normal keyboard drawer under a desk, unlike the v1) which i bought earlier this year.

It's a good keyboard, quality is hard to find faults with, and the LCD screen with their software to drive it, is actually pretty useful (CPU / Memory monitor, RSS feed reader are my favourites).

However, for all there is to recommend it, the price is not one of them. It is not worth the £70 or £80 i spent on it. If you can find this keyboard for ~£45 mark, i whole heartedly recommend it.

The Saitek doesn't have low profile keys.

+1 for the Logitech Illuminated by the way, it's what I'm using to type this post. The only other decent keyboard I can think of that's both backlit and has low profile keys is the Razer Lycosa.

+1 for the logitech. Its the only one your likely to find in budget. The microsoft x6 (i think thats the number) has sort of low profile keys and is reasonable if you want something to look a little "different"

I haven't seen the need to really, I found it's at a perfect angle as it is.

Thanks for all the advice people. I've decided to go with the majority, and get the Illuminated keyboard, but will be waiting till the 12th of Dec, when Logitech will be having 25% off everything. :)

+1 on the Logitech Illuminated. Personally i have a G15 V1 but if i liked low-profile laptop keys i'd probably get the illuminated.

Thought I'd throw something a little different into the mix.

I use to have that keyboard, but after a few years of heavy use the letters start rubbing off.
And I've litterally just discovered they do a full size one as well so I'm off to order it!
